BEAVERTON, Ore. — Friday afternoon at The Opening Finals saw players break up into a camp-like setting to work on position-specific drills and 1-on-1s. Here are our observations from watching the defensive linemen work out at the Nike World Headquarters.

Alpha Dog

Marvin Wilson (Bellaire, Texas/Episcopal) - The 6-foot-4, 329-pound lineman came into 1-on-1's with a target on his back, and he did not disappoint. Wilson blew past Texas Tech commitment Jack Anderson, was too much for Longhorns' commitment Xavier Newman to handle, and was not seen losing a rep during the competition. His size, strength and ability to keep working allowed Wilson to overpower some of the top offensive linemen in the country. The Crystal Ball favors LSU, and Ed Orgeron has to be licking his chops at the possibility of adding this five-star interior defensive lineman to his roster.

Next 3

- Tyler Shelvin (Crowley, La./Notre Dame)

Another big body that gave elite offensive linemen issues was Shelvin. The 323-pound prospect already has incredible raw strength and is able to drive Cesar Ruiz, arguably the top interior blocker in the event, into the pocket fairly easily. The key to Shelvin's development will be keeping his weight in check, but once again, Orgeron appears to be cleaning up at his position.

- Jordan Williams (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox)

One who really impressed off the edge was Williams. At almost 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, Williams really has an outstanding frame and displayed good explosiveness off the ball on Friday. Williams won four reps in a row, not by pure speed, but by working half-man, using his hands well, and ripping through. That move should really develop well once he learns how to use his growing explosiveness to his advantage.

They also said Dylan Moses, Grant Delpit, and Helaire also stood out in their respective position groups.

The Dline has always been what kept us elite. Recently that has changed, not good, but i believe Ed-O gets us back in the top 5 for years to come. DBU-U is nice but D-line U wins you those titles

Wilson, Shelvin, Valentine, Anderson and Buggs could potentially be the best DL in the history of the sport with coach O keeping the fire lit under their azz! Geaux Tigers!!!

Valentine would be in the 2016 class and unfortunately likely not play with Wilson and Shelvin

I lost track of his eligibility... How many years does he have left? 2 but can go pro after one?

Is Moses at linebacker or with the athletes?

News from 247 mod was that its okay but not favoring us when it comes to Wilson. So I hope we get Valentine and finish strong with Shelvin and Buggs.

Not sure who down voted me but I am just the messenger.

If NSD was Monday Wilson would not be a tiger.

I am in the same boat as you. I have some connections that knows the family and they have been telling me up until this summer he a Tiger. I am not sure why the mods feel this way. I can show several points that lean to LSU. Once Delpit commits this weekend I will be back on the Wilson Wagon and pray we ride out.

Only one things scares me and that's system. But if we bring up system then Bama is out of it as well.

I know for a fact that we once led and we were players. Not sure what has changed.

I have to contribute some of this to the recruiting game and business side of it. Money isn't made and clicks are generated if we all know were these kids are going!

I understand they're reluctant to say LSU leads because he is maybe the best prospect in this class and he will get EVERYTHING thrown at him from schools like Bama and FSU. I think the kid really likes LSU though and Orgeron has put in the work necessary and will continue to do so.

Having guys like Delpit and Chaisson who he's tight with in our corner will help tremendously, as will going out and winning some games this fall.
