Anybody know much about this guy? Being from Alabama I assume its a battle between Auburn and the Gumps for this kid. His only early offer is from Tennessee.

Would imagine he would consider NC State since his brother went there...

He's supposed to be good.I wouldn't put too much stock into the Tenn offer. They offer everyone and then sort them out as they go.

Stephen Rivers will get an offer from Alabama this spring. I expect Alabama to add a QB for the 2011 class, but there's been more talk about Teddy Bridgewater (from Florida), C.J. Uzomah (from Georgia), and Rico Stallworth. Another QB in from Alabama to keep an eye on is Dallas Tidwell.

Rivers doesn't appear to be a priority for Auburn right now.

He grew up an Auburn fan but I expect bama to be a strong contender. Saban expressed interest fairly early on in his career. I don't really think Auburn is looking very hard because of the two other high profile QB's.

Alabama has added two high profile QBs the last two years. I expect to add a guy like Rivers in the next class. I want him if for nothing more than not screwing up on missing on another Rivers.

I live 15 minutes from Athens and room with 3 guys who graduated from Athens High School, one who's sister is a senior at Athens.

The sister told him that he is a UT fan and that he favors UT. Reports are he tried committing to UT on his September visit but Kiffin isn't accepting 2011 QB commitments until after NSD.

Doubt he will be as good as his brother (NFL talent like Phillip is not very common) and he has to put on a lot of weight to be a SEC QB. However, his dad is his high school coach and has pedigreed him to be great and prefers a pro-style system like the one Kiffin is using at UT. He is still learning the game but has a shitload of upside. His stats are better than Phillip's HS stats.

It's Stephen btw

This might sound really really stupid, but I hate Phillip Rivers so much that I don't his kin anywhere near LSU

I fricking hate phillip rivers. By far my least favorite NFL player and maybe even professional athlete.

Somewhat right. He did enjoy his visit to UT, but I haven't heard anything about him wanting to commit.

FWIW His dad seems to think he could be better than Philip. He's already an inch taller than him.

Bama is in great shape with Uzomah but he's probably not qb in college.Auburn will probably get the kid that blew up the Under Armour combine the other day.I can't remember his name right now.

He's not my #1 QB this year but frankly i dont see Bridgewater going anywhere but Miami so RIvers is in the second bunch along with LeMay,Uzomah(although still working out where he will b eoffered TE?) and others.

Im a big Philip Rivers fan, and frankly i wouldnt give two craps about if he talks like his brother if he backs it up half aswell.

I would think, regardless of how good of a recruiter Saban is, that he will be hard pressed to land such a high profile quarterback for 2011. While the recruits will just see McElroy and will forget about McCarron and Sims, a guy going through the process would be wise to look at the recent commits. Hard to get on the field with those two guys to battle.

engvol, I've heard that Tennessee is in great shape(maybe the favorite) for Justin Worley. He's pretty good imo.If you guys take Lemay(He's very good) it would make turning down Boyd last year look questionable.I personally like Boyd better right now.Lemay could prove to be better but Boyd was/is very good.

I expect Alabama to land Uzomah. He'll start out at QB, because we aren't likely to land a high profile QB in the 2011 class, after getting Sims and McCarron the last two years. I think Stephen Rivers can be in the 2011 class too, if he's not enamored with Tennessee that much. Plus, I think UT will finally land a high profile QB anyway, after striking out lately.
