Even if we were living up to our pre-season expectations and there was no uncertainty about Miles' future at LSU, the recruiting situation in Texas would be getting more difficult. I watched Charlie Strong succeed at Louisville, and when he was hired at Texas I knew it would only be a matter of time before he turned things around there, assuming the Texas folks gave him that time. He has already improved UT's recruiting profile considerably over the past two classes. And if Houston becomes a member of the Big 12 and Herman stays, they will be a problem as well. Of course, there are a lot of great players in the state, and we should always be an attractive alternative, but as one poster has already noted, when the Texas schools (especially UT) are winning, it will be harder to pull those kids out of state.

LSU lost and Texas won the first game. Recruits are young and impressionable

I wonder what kind of impression watching Cal drop 50 on the Longhorns made on them?

Seriously. Texas sucks

I just hope we resolve our coaching situation with enough time to where we can still add some of these guys down the stretch

we'd be fools to let it linger longer than a day past the regular season being over, if not forced to do it sooner....

but then again, we do have Alleva...

'm fine with handing the keys to Aranda, because I love the backbone being built on defense.

When you say "handing the keys to Aranda," do you mean the HC or DC keys?

He doesn't know what he means. He just saw an opportune time to bash Miles, so he took it.

Aranda and our defensive staff would probably survive a coaching change.

I hope this holds true. In any year with a change at coordinator, I expect some growing pains. That being said, I've been impressed with Aranda so far.

Charlie Strong has had back to back losing seasons yet the media doesn't talk about him being on the "hot seat". In his third season, the defense this year is ranked below 100 in the nation. Why any elite recruit would want to play in the Big 12 is beyond me.

They have been talking about Strong being on the hot seat even after his first year and it was talked about heavily in the offseason this year.

With that said, the Big 12 is trash, and Texas will win 8-9 regular season games.

Probably the same impression kids got when LSU had 50+ points dropped on them twice in a 3 game span in 2008. Same year LSU had 31 points dropped on them in 3 consecutive games, and 27 points in 4 consecutive games. I think LSU did alright claiming the #2 class in the country, don't you??

These games don't really sway the kids too much.

Wilson appears to be smarter than the average recruit...he's paying attention, for sure...if Aranda keeps the D improving each week and we keep winning, and especially if we somehow beat Shorty...all will be good...

How does this have anything to do with us staying positive?? Coach Miles and his team needs to stay positive and go to war starting this week! That's exactly how they will have to approach these next games because if they play light with anyone they WILL get a kicking in the rear.

If the Tigers would have started the year like they have played the last two games no one would be saying a thing about Les but he put on a chit show in front of the nation and now you will see the ramifications of that. All the while others, Bama, Michigan, Houston, Louisville, even TAM and Texas have done well so there it is. It's on Les no one else period. Makes me sick that our coaches didn't know who the best qb was to start the season. It's just crazy, doesn't matter what we think Les makes the choices bf on and after game day. GT
