What's the story on this kid.

Does he lean our way? Top competitors?

6-5, 330??? Can he move?

i just watched his rivals video and i was kinda let down about what i saw. he seems like he can move well but he wasn't dominating on the video. Seems like he just kinda got stood up a lot at the line.

After the whole Chris Davenport thing i am a little leery of these type of kids as well.

But I think he is a hole stopper not a pass rusher. Guy that takes up two lineman like a Vince Wilfork.

I havent seen video but i understand what you are saying. We just have to use him the correct way.

Everyone raved about him at the Army All American combine in January. Moves really well for a guy his size

The knock on Davenport is that he doesn't have the intensity or fire to play DT. If you've seen Nick Jame's combine one-on-one footage, you know that this isn't the case for him

PPL says he plays too high, I tend to agree, but any defensive line coach worth his money can fix this problem. Brick Haley is one of the best in the SEC. If anyone can fix that problem he can.

Is his footage free or only available on Rivals?

I would love to check him out.

right i think he needs to be more of a space eater, like Terrance Cody was at bama.

Yeah, if he learns to play with his pads a little lower, he will be All-Sec caliber. He's got very great athleticism and mobility for a guy his size. Can be a space eater, as well as being able to get in the backfield easily

I love how many times he gets the QB to throw off their back foot in just plain fear of getting hit by that 18 wheeler coming at them

The guy over Mississippi HS for scout.com thinks that James is LSU or bust.

I think his name is Steve Robertson.

Here is a link to the Mississippi Scout site if anyone is interested. I don't know if its free to read or not though. I don't pay for it, and I can read it FWIW.

reminds me of al woods. hopefully, he'll learn to play lower. woods isn't and wasn't bad. Just not as good as hyped.

big athletic kid who can really move. just plays high.

Some people here are really out of line with their comments about Davenport. He is very much liked by his teammates. He works very hard at practice from everyone I have spoken, too. Anyone that saw him play in high school knew he wasn't an elite DT. Nick James stands straight up when the ball is snapped. Anyone here talking about drive or passion needs to GTFO because you have no clue about someone else's desire. Get over yourself.

Davenport still has plenty of time to make a name for himself as an OL

You need talent and drive to be better. Don't know what Davenport's problem was, but Haley didn't do anything with him.
