If he values his high school girlfriend more than his family, friends, and home that tells me all I need to know about him.

Landon is by all accounts a high character kid. He'll do the right thing and come to LSU. If he doesn't it shows we're better off without him.

Edit: If Bama is paying him I retract my statement. I'd take the money also. We need to look out for our best interests and our families. If Bama is recruiting him straight up, they won't get him. If they win the bidding war, then we can't blame him.

Tigernation will be disappointed unfortunately. He was at the dutchtown basketball game last night with his girlfriend, who is Annette Lowery(formerly Jakson)'s daughter...who is going to Bama. The mom has already helped in the Eddie lacy recruitment. Personally I think she's gettin something out of this, but what do I know. Thats probably the reason he's waiting so long to announce.

That's hilarious because my wife pretty much works with Landon's aunt every day and that's not the story I've heard.

His family will have a lot more to do with his decision than his girlfriend. Let's put it that way.

None of this makes any sense. First there is no right or wrong choice, both are great schools. Second his family can see him play anywhere, schools like Bama and LSU are on television every week. And your pay for play allegations are retarded, if you pay a player it would be a DGB or Winston type that touches the ball every play. No one is in a bidding war for a safety.

dude, if you are tyring to talk LSU fans into being happy, if a 5 star safety from dutchtown leaves LSU for Bama, your gonna be here for a long time.

If LC goes elsewhere people will be pissed. Just the way it is.

I know Bama will pay their players. TR went from public housing in Pensacola to rolling around in a Denali and his family is comfortable in Birmingham. In this economy, the family's economic fortunes didn't improve like that without some shenanigans. I'm just saying NCAA is a crooked slave labor pyramid scheme. If you can get a payday early best believe everyone would take it 100% of the time. Les and LSU are just a little too standup to ever dirty recruit like the Gumps would. Either way it's all good.

It would sting, no doubt. But if LSU takes care of business in the championship game, the real recruiting windfall from that will be next recruiting season, not this one. And LSU would find someone very talented at safety. However, I really hope we get LC.

Is that why we're on sanctions right now? Under Les watch no less.

Yea, we're so classy we paid housing for a player and then recruited off the Lyles connection. LSU might not be as dirty as a program like AU/Bama but we're sure not clean either. No SEC program can be if they want to be elite. You have to get dirty sometimes in recruiting.

I really can't stand how the only thing people can talk about in this kids recruitment is his girlfriend. I know they are kids and tend to do ridiculous shite, but its hard for me to believe he would leave behind his family and friends just so he could go to school with a girlfriend he probably won't have in a couple of months.

I think if he goes to Bama its because he wants to play for a superstar coach for a program with a ridiculous amount of history and the ability to get him ready for the NFL. I don't think girlfriend will have anything to do with it.

That being said, I think by the end of it, he will be an LSU Tigaahhhhh

This. Im a Dutchtown grad and have been passing by the school everyday for the last 4 years on my way to LSU. That's how close Dutchtown is to LSU. Saban would practically be walking into our backyard to take him.

Nah man
All I have learned is that the only way Landon chooses LSU is that if his soul is delivered to Satan by a witch doctor, and that Geismar is walking distance to Tiger Stadium.

Can we stop with the girlfriend stuff? It's really stupid. Landon Collins is about to make a career decision. His career will likely pay him many millions of dollars. The very nature of that career will mean that, if he and his girlfriend are to be together, she will have to follow him and go where he goes. I'm sure that the two of them get that. Anyone with half a brain gets that.

Landon's interest in Alabama is obviously (as he himself has said) due to the fact that Nick Saban personally works with defensive backs and has a great track record of success with them. Yes, LSU has great coaches who have had amazing success with DBs, but (just to look at one example) Corey Webster is in the middle of a $45 million deal. Let's not pretend that Nick Saban wouldn't help make Landon into a great player.

In short, Alabama and LSU are clearly both great choices for Collins. There isn't a "wrong" decision. I wish people would just shut up and let him make it, but if we're going to speculate non-stop, let's at least not insult him by insinuating that he's a p-whipped idiot. /rant

How is this thread still up? Yet again, it gets to his girlfriend and is completely unnecessary
