There's nothing wrong with being optimistic but I don't like threads like this. They tend to raise expectations higher than they should be and tend feed self inflicted letdowns like 5 for 5.

Keeping recruiting expectations down should be a personal thing. Don't let threads by the rant raise them. Recruiting is way different than a 12 game season for a 9 year coach, however.

He decommitted on an OV to LSU. Should be kind of obvious what he intends to do.

Sure I get excited about LSU football. I just want to temper my enthusiasm in the recruiting arena and approach recruiting a little more emotionally even keeled. The wounds of Joe McKnight, LC, CR, and 5 for 5 are still a little tender. You can understand that, huh?

Yeah, this has sort of been a strange recruiting year for LSU. IMO, they have been in on fewer uncommitted guys than in the past but really seemed to be waiting a little longer on early committed ones like Charlot, Sweet, etc (neither flipped yet but Brown has). Looks like Tillery won't be one of those to flip but whatever the record is for number of flips for LSU in a class, this might end up being a record for LSU. Hard to believe it won't end up being about 3 or 4 by NSD.

Having said that, I give the LSU coaches a lot of credit here for staying in touch, etc but to be fair, that also seems to be the way of recruiting. A verbal and 75 cents will buy you a cup of coffee.
