Deals with Hicks. The guy never played a down, can't imagine anything happens outside of this. It's not like we allowed him to play, win the Heisman, win the SEC, play for the NC, and give his lead recruiter a raise in the future.

The self-imposed restrictions include a reduction in official visits for the 2010-11 academic year, a reduction of initial scholarship recipients by two for the 2011-12 incoming class, a reduction of the overall scholarship counters by two for the 2011-12 academic year and a reduction of the total number of National Letter of Intent/SEC scholarship papers that can be offered to prospective student-athletes by two for the February 2011 signing date.

This sucks. I remember seeing an article about the NCAA investigating it. Does anyone know if it is still going on (I would guess yes).

THis has been ongoing. LSU has done everything to keep this from being a problem. The Athletic Compliance Office has had this one from the get go.

Yeah, better us imposing sanctions than the NCAA.

This is very funny. Even though you shot me the bird on another board.

I don't see how this could end up being anything big. So far, we've fired the coach who committed the offense, ran off the player who received benefits (live in a coach's house for a little while I believe), and self-imposed scholly restrictions.

When you compare that to Auburn (who pretty much did the opposite in every way), there's no way the NCAA could even put us on probation.

Agreed, but I didn't realize this was serious enough to lose a couple of scholarships over. I haven't been following it that closely. The timing is unfortunate, based on the predictions of an outstanding class of recruits in 2011.

Losing 2 schollys sucks but shouldn't hurt us as long as the staff is selective and does a good job of evaluating.

How many can we take now with this combined with attrition, etc.?? Will we greyshirt some?
