Behind a triple-double by center James Thompson, the No. 23 Parkview Baptist Eagles upset the No. 10 Rams 50-39 in Westlake Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class 3A playoffs.

quote:

Parkview took a 2-0 lead on a pair of free throws by Thompson but junior Jacory Washington hit a three from the corner to give Westlake the lead but that is when the foul trouble started. A few minutes later, Washington was on the bench the rest of the first half with two fouls.

There were others in action, but I couldn't find articles about them.

If Thompson stays in it mentally, dude can be a force at the next level.

TE/DE and DB/ATH. Both '15s I think. Cormier might be a '14.

Some of the guys I highlighted are football and some are basketball.

Living out of state, I didn't realize until last week that Bossier was a force in basketball these days. I know they've got a kid at northwestern state, they've got a couple of good players this year, but not sure if they're big time prospects.

James Thompson (2014) from PBS had a big night.

quote:

Junior center James Thompson was the catalyst for the Eagles. The 6-foot-8 Thomas recorded a double-double — 24 points, 11 rebounds in Parkview’s balanced scoring effort

No. 23 Parkview upset no. 7 Patterson (they beat the 10 seed Westlake last game).

Dont know if the LSU fans know it but CJJ is looking at one of the kids from Peabody. Kid is a stud. Name is Gabriel Jordan. 6'4 Junior. Already has the body to play college ball and can score from anywhere, anyhow. First round he had 16 and 10...Second round he had 19 and 20. He plays the 2,3 and 4 for us but he's a 2 in college if he doesn't grow next year.

Hey LABred08 or anyone in the know about Gabriel Jordan from Peabody, how is his outside shot, ballhanding and leaping ability? This is the first I've heard of this kid.

I pulled up some articles on the Town Talk website covering Peabody games. Looks like he's a player. Just wanting to know more.

Gabriel is a late bloomer but a stud. He guards 1-4. Has a college body now. Shoots the three well and a slasher. He's just a junior so next year he will be the "man"

He's a lot more polished than any of the recruits we put out in the last few years. Markel, Dee, Josh and Troy were all really raw. This kid I would say is better than all of them but Markel. I will say, yes, against WM, he wasn't playing his best. Can say that for much of the early season, with the exception of the Comeaux game, he was huge in that. But he is, what I consider our only "Star" on this team, we've got a lot of pieces but this year and next, we'll go only as far as he takes us.

When our big man became ineligible over the summer it was a real blow to us, these kids only recently learned how to play without him because he was a sure fire 15 and 15 guy for us. Jordan was the one who picked up his rebounding slack.

He shoots the ball extremely well from the outside, with pressure or without, beautiful stroke, nice lift, straight up and down. Can create his own shot, active in the motion offense and body to get around defenders and can crash the glass.

Though I don't think he's as good as Markel was at this point, definitely not a better athlete, Jordan is surely more ready for college than he was.
