I think we're gonna need Williams to play RB for us. The cupboard will likely be pretty bare after this year with Hill, Blue, and possibly Brazil (dismissal) and Hilliard (taking a shot at the NFL) moving on.

We need capable bodies at RB

I hope it is for RB. Not saying that he can't play LBer, but I like Kenny Young and would rather him take a LB spot alongside Garrett and Alexander than a converted RB. Young has been in beast mode all season

If Darrell does indeed sign with LSU, it would be great if he contributes at least as much as did the first Darrell Williams did back in the 1980's. He was the younger brother of NFL RB, Harvey Williams, a very highly recruited player.

Oh yea i completely agree with all of that.

If we get LF we will have LF, Magee, and Boo. LF and Magee top 2 in the pecking order. Im sure Williams will get the chance to play RB to provide quality depth. But will he stay at that spot?

Got Brossette, Guice is all LSU, just offered that Houston kid from TX the other day, and Ducre. All in 2015 class, with Brossette and Guice 2 of the top 5 RBs in the nation. And all are takes and all want to play at LSU. If we get them, then we will have 6 RBs that are freshman / sophs. 7 if we include Williams.

So yea we need capable bodies, but only for 1 season. And if we get LF, we wont need as many RBs. He and Magee will dominant the touches. I know injuries happen. So yea we need another body at RB, but only for 1 season. And LF isnt your normal freshman back. Hes ready to carry the load for an NFL team right now.

And a lot of people arent taking Boo serious because his knee "surgery". His ACL wasnt even partially torn, but stretched. He will be 100% by April. Which means he will be good to go for summer camp and not miss anything.

I think jrevonte said we are only taking 2 RBs for 2015, and I assume they are Guice and Brossette.

And i listen to everything jrevonte says.

That said, If we only are taking 2 and our top 2 targets are Brossette and Guice, why did we just offer that RB Houston from TX?. Brossette is already committed, and Guice is all LSU. He said LSU is his dream school and where hes wanted to play and go to college his entire life. When LSU offered him, he basically committed on the spot.Just said he will do it after his JR season. Guice is basically a commit and I expect him to commit when the season is over due to the fact that Weiner doesnt like players doing the whole recruiting thing over the season.

I believe, from reading things and gathering info, the RB from Houston got a come to camp type offer.

Ah gotcha.

I just think we take at least 3 RBs next year. Brossette, Guice, and then Ducre/Houston.

Then 2016 you got Devin White aka the next LF

Read between the tea leaves. LSU offered him as an ATH so the pitch to LF remains the same. If/when LF commits then Williams can be offered as a RB.

The reason that Williams has the offer, besides his play, is Palelei's injury. If we lose Hilliard and Hill, we have a huge shortage of running backs. IMO, LSU will need him at RB but can't afford to look like they cooled on LF because of how badly they need him at RB.

Now, if my son was offered a full scholarship to play football at a national power an hour down the road, position wouldn't matter to me. I understand what the Williams family is saying, but I understand why we are here, too.

If we lose out on this kid, we know it's actually his loss because there is no better place to train to be an NFL RB than LSU. You get to the league still having tread on the tires and have a shot at the second contract.

I think that he fits the mold of previous great LSU running backs. I think the coaches re working hard not to scare off recruits down the line by stock piling to many backs now. The problem is, we have the need now because of the way the coaches set the table to land LF. Not trying to be greedy but we need them all. They need to see the advantage of sharing time and not being leg dead by the time they graduate.
