I really don't know much about these guys. Alot of them have some legit offers. So before you write me off as a star gazer, which of these guys should be 4 stars in FEB? Any underrated studs?

Andy Dodd
Melvin Jones
Christian Lacouture
KJ Malone
Lewis Neal
Michael Patterson
Chuck Baker

Lewis Neal has he strongest argument.

In fact it's a complete mystery to most why he isn't much higher on all sites. The kid has not only dominated summer camps but is a dominant force on the field this year with over 100 tackles and about 15 sacks.

Melvin Jones was a four and dropped to a three during the last update. When is the next update?

i've seen films of Malone and he is a physical beast IMHO he should play DL he would be dominant
He's very quick for a big guy and has an incedible vertical. Fast shuttle. I think he would be great with his speed and size as a DT or a strong DE!

Lewis Neal not being a 4 star is a slap in the face. Dude is a frickin stud. The obvious answer to the OP question is Neal hands down.

Neal is not a 4-star because he is not an athletic freak. He won't post a fast 40, does not have a big vertical, and is not a big guy. What he does he does it well...which is simply play very good football. He is a smart player who is already very polished and sound in the fundamentals of the game.

I would think that Dodd, Jones, Lacouture should get 4 stars.

I am not really well versed with the ranking methodologies so help me out here.

You have defined Neal as a normal specimen who is a very good player with football smarts.

Are the other "freaks" ranked higher because they have all of his qualities in addition to their athleticism? Or is it based on potential because of their athleticism?

In either case it makes sense to rank them higher right?

Jones,

Didn't he get hurt this season? I don't think he will move up because he had a season ending injury but he will be a stud in college.

For the most part.

It's why many elite OL prospects aren't necessarily dominant at the high school level. College coaches see certain things that they can coach up to make the prospect a great OL at the college level.

In which case -
1. If the sites are capable of doing the same evaluation and don't see it in Neal - then he is only a good but not great player and can't be given a high ranking.

2. If the coaches can see it and the sites can't or don't then he could be a great player but won't get it since they don't see it and he won't be given a high ranking.

Is this reasoning right?

Sounds like he can't be blocked. He was also MVP at several camps against 5 stars. Help me out here

Well, we know Les has an eye for moving guys to different positions. ie JC Copeland. If Malone is better at Dline than Oline, I would have confidence the coaching staff will see it. Hell he might even end up our next hammer at FB.
