We didn't shoot the ball exceedingly well with our prior roster and this team will be different because we'll push the tempo every chance we get. The one thing that stands out is that this team will be more athletic than we've been at any time under TJ outside of maybe his first year, and even then we may be more athletic. I'm not saying we'll be better than last year or anything because I really don't know how this team will come together and how long it will take, but our two most promising players return, we lose our most consistent guy in Hamilton, but gain several players that I believe can contribute pretty quickly being that two, possibly three are JUCO, and one played overseas.

I think we could be an exciting team to watch.

I haven't found any You Tube video on Morgan. Anyone have a link?

Found quite a bit on Corban Collins and here is what I think of him after viewing -

Looks good but not great on video. Has a nice looking jump shot, very good form and will definitely be able to hit an open shot. Hard to tell whether his speed and quickness will be enough for major college play but that is a question mark with a lot of recruits. Also showed good ball handling and dribbling skills. But what makes or breaks a college point guard is not physical ability but the mental ability to not make bad decisions. Only time will tell but definitely not just a case of signing someone to fill out a roster.

I have to think that Johnny Jones signed Collins because he does not want his backup PG to be Stringer. Stringer is a more natural at the 2. I like that Johnny is trying to win this season, he easily could have focused on next years great group of recruits in LA.

Odoh is coming, and after seeing his block and rebound numbers I think he will be a perfect compiment to JOB.

I completely agree. I'm interested to see how Jones utilizes these incoming recruits, particularly Collins.

JOB.

If he is worth is weight, JOB turns into a stud this year and leaves to be a lotto pick.

I'd really like to see JOB dominate the boards next season. He certainly has the potential to be a great player.

JOB is certainly capable. It seemed like Trent taught him nothing about running offense. Anytime he got the ball he put threw it up or turned it over. He was great at getting offensive boards inside, but what frustrated me so much last year was his power dribble off of the rebound. Hopefully Johnny teaches him to go straight up with it off following the rebound.

I thought he improved over the course of the season, but he's still a raw talent. He needs a few post moves to complement his strength around the basket. Jones will work with him, and it'll be fun to see how JOB fits into the offense.

Most certainly. I think it's because he got in shape.

Jones looks as if he can coach a team, unlike Trent who sat their with his arms crossed when guys like Stringer were throwing up contested jumpers from the parking lot all year. I think JOB will look much more fluid this year and will fit into Jones' fast paced offense nicely.

I like JOB and see this opinion of him often on here, but I just don't see him being a lotto pick this year. People have been saying he'll be a 1 or 2 and doner since he got here. He has decent size but doesn't have much of an offensive game. He hasn't shown to be a lotto pick yet IMO.

I don't seem to be as worried as others about him leaving I guess.

I agree. His FG% was only .399 last year. He's gotta learn how to finish before any team thinks about drafting him highly because it's not like he has otherworldly size and athleticism to get drafted on potential alone.

It all depends on the year he has. Trent didn't coach JOB to his full abilities. If LSU somehow goes dancin' next year, JOB will most likely be a lotto.

I certainly don't see him being a high draft pick. JOB did improve as the season went on but he has a long way to go. For instance, what is he doing in the off season as far as conditioning? He wasn't even in shape to play a full game until the final third of the season. If we really intend to run a lot then JOB's job will be to get the rebound and make a quick outlet pass. In a half court set he will be our number one option down low but will he pass out of the double teams he will draw or is he going to still try and bull his way to the basket?

he seems hell bent on going pro asap and has his reasons. however i agree with pretty much all that. kirby should be able to help further develop him with a year of solid coaching.we need to get him closer to the goal more often in half court though it sounds like we'll be more open for the first time in a long time.

It seems to me that everyone is taking Odoh too much for granted that he will come here and immediately start. If he has only been in this country for a few years and has difficulty with English and is having trouble graduating from a Junior college. So how is he going to stay eligible at LSU?

And certainly if he does come and play he will be a raw talent. I look for Godfrey to start because of his greater experience and more maturity.

I also think the guard situation is wide open and at this point there is no telling who will start and/or get playing time and at what position. The more I look at the film of Corban, the more impressed I am. I think he could eventually end up a starter with Hickey despite being labeled a backup point guard. But it will be a dogfight as Stringer has the experience and I like Morgan's defensive skills.

Hammink will be the backup for Coleman at SF. Ludwig and Courtney will spell JOB and Godfrey when needed. If Odoh does come and play then he will most likely take playing time away from those two.
