Yes, I know that. But I'm also one of those 100,000 screaming fans who helps create the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium, the atmosphere that made Scott choose LSU over Harvard. I'm just very invested in his success. I don't see why this is controversial.

Taken care of in Louisiana vs taken care of everywhere else.

I'd have gone to Harvard.

If he's Harvard material now, he will be 4 years later.

Not necessarily, he'll be competing for a graduate spot with a degree from a university that is considered mid level at best. Additionally, his athletic ability comes into play as a determining factor for his acceptance to Harvard as an undergrad but not necessarily as a grad student.

On the flip side, an offer from a coach/AD/whatever athletic personnel at Harvard does not guarantee acceptance, so unless he was already accepted for admission (I do think someone saying he was but I am uncertain if I am correct), there was no guarantee he would be.

All that being said, he can get a more than passable education at LSU that will serve him well in his life after football. All the while staying close to home and competing to be the starting quarterback at hi home states flagship university with the possibility, however remote some may think it is, to play professional football.

Harvard can't offer athletic scholarships. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand.

They do give scholarships. They just call them grant and aid. I know the current starting running back at Cornnel and he doesn't pay a dime to go to school. Saying they don't give scholarships allows them to pretend like they are above the fray.

That would be DUke at #8 followed by Vanderbilt. tied as the 15th ranked University in the country and tops in the SEC. Rice is a close behind at #18. Tulane is tops in the state tied for #41 nationally. LSU is locked in a tie at #129 with several others. They did finish ahead of both Mississippi schools in the SEC and tied with Kentucky Arkansas.

Harvard can't offer athletic scholarships. I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. He can make very good opportunities for himself coming out of LSU, and not be thousands (and potentially hundreds of thousands) of dollars in debt when he's done. Plus he gets to play football in the SEC vs the Ivy league.

Your argument is faulty. He can still get into Harvard as long as his academic index is above 176. Additionally, you do not understand how financing an Ivy league works. Most do not graduate in debt.

So you make a false statement and want others to provide a link? Do your own homework. He is correct in that the cost is not significant if accepted.

It constantly amazes me how many people on this board will down play an Ivy League education. It's truly impressive how many dumbasses there are.

This is best response to this tired subject I have seen yet. So right! Go away with this Harvard / Maryland BS. Either be a Tiger or be Tiger bait and gtfooh.

I know plenty of former players who have NOT been taken care of. Don't believe the hype.

Some benefactor would have taken care of school for him as a scholarship.
.
I would have gone to Harvard. He came to LSU as a second or third choice. If a blue chip comes in next year he will be passed up and where will he be then. Junior college or mcneese

Debating Havard vs LSU from an education perspective is just silly. If Scott has dreams of playing in the NFL, LSU would provide him an opportunity to shutdown any nay sayers because he will have an opportunity to play against NFL ready linemen in the SEC. However, at Harvard, the questions will remain regarding his size and level of competition

I was hoping that he would have two hats in front of him at the signing day ceremony, an LSU hat and a Harvard hat. He could have picked the LSU hat and started talking about how impressed he was with the academic center.
