Read it, quite an inspiring story. Also the kid seems to have some class. Of note his comment about being willing to play any position

It's all about the work ethic. I think the potential is there.

Reminds me of Rohan Davey but with wheels. He could really cause problems for defenses.

will definitely be easier for them to shave 20lbs off him in 2 years and get him chiseled up, than to put 70lbs on a kid coming in at 180...

he's gonna love being a tiger...

this is the one Rivers should be most intimidated by...

I really have no prejudice with his size and fully expect that his body will be overhauled if he's willing to put in the work.

He may or may not be willing to put in the necessary work. There are no absolutes in college football and recruiting. He could just as easily be the next Jordan Jefferson as the next JaMarcus Russell. If he stays at QB, I'd be much more worried about what he has between the ears than his body.

Rivers has a lot of work to do if he wants a shot at being physically ready for the SEC for 2013. I also think your discounting Randalls ability, that kid has some serious talent (more so than Rivers) and got really reports throughout the year about his work ethic and skill set

ETA also expecting Mett to be one and done is a little presumtuous and a little unfair to Mett. When you give a guy unreal expectations, its easy to fail.

2013 QBs you get
Matt Barkley, Landry Jones...
then you hit the SEC with Bray, Murray, Wilson

not doubting the Mettsiah, but he'd have to light up the entire world to move into that top 5... and that'd make him a mid-late 2nd round pick if he did.. maybe third...

we should expect great things, and expect them for 2 years...

then on to the winner of the Rivers/Randall/Liggins contest...

This guy will be a project for sure, glad we got him but if we end up recruiting an elite QB in the next two years idk if he'll see time at QB

This is all I need to know really:

quote:

Liggins led Lafayette to a perfect record and state championship this season. He finished his high school career with a 46-2 overall record. He finished the year with 1,678 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 953 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Kid can run, pass, and has a good head on his shoulders. And he is a monster. He can hang in the pocket longer and take some hits. Having someone that is able to sit in the pocket longer would've changed the games vs Bama this year.

Not ideal taking "projects" but has a higher ceiling at other positions if he's open to it

From the linked article:

"It doesn't really matter to me what I play," Liggins said. "I'll be the kicker if I have to, just as long as I can play. I love the game."

Probably 1 of 300 D1 recruits are in college shape when they first hit campus. So I expect that 291 to trim down....

Agree. Tommy Moffett will get him in great shape shape for his position, just as he does for all the players for their positions. I can't wait to see Liggins play.
