I don't know which he hates more.. LSU or his brother.

OR

He is threatened by his "little" brother and is afraid to play against him...

I am so glad we did not get Collins. Just hate that Willis was not up front the whole time. We never had a chance and he wasted lots of the coaches time. I can just see him laughing as the coaching staff spent untold hours and $$ on his recruiting process..

[quote]why are recruit intentional leading the staff to believe they have a shot at landing them by coming to most of the games all the unofficial visit and official just to sorry its in my best interest to go to another school due like Cam Robinson and go to other school's from the jump.

I actually respect CRob for the way he has handled this.. I really wanted him at LSU but the guy is handling things the right way. RESPECT to him.

I respect all of these posters who are smart enough to see that Landon is an elite player. How can you say you would not love to have him?

People are just bitter. Rightfully so, but they choose to let that take over.

Collins is an outstanding player, and this years LSU defense would have been a better unit with him on the field.

, but this thread took an especially bad turn and caught me with a little time on my hands.

Apparently you're not familiar with the Collins, Willis, April Justin recruitment/show. LSU got rode like a striper pole.

They brought it on themselves, used LSU and left the coaches with the **** in their hands.

I will never feel sorry for any BAD WORDS said about them for the most part. I consider the things they did a lot more harmful then WORDS.

Mostly true... and yet some do.

I usually don't bother. But if it's user discretion, then am I not a user? Serious question: Is there less value in what I posted than the posts that I called out? / Do those people have more of a right to fill the board with snide comments than I do to offer a counterpoint (however long-winded)?

As for Collins, one of my posts spelled out my opinion about his recruitment... and I did actively follow it on this board. I don't agree that LSU "got rode".

As others have said, it was widely known that Landon was very high on Bama for several months before his commitment. The public perception was that LSU closed ground and almost flipped him... actually it was believed that he did flip on that last weekend visit before the Under Armor game... before he turned around again and committed to Bama on live TV.

I understand why that would create the perception that he played the LSU staff and I can't say he didn't, but I don't think so. I simply think there was some credibility to the reports following Landon's last visit to LSU that his girlfriend was texting/facebooking/whatever messages accusing him of not considering her a priority or something to that effect... this only makes sense if he did in fact have a change of heart. Yeah, they could've pre-meditated it, but I think that's giving a supposedly quiet kid a lot of credit for being manipulative. It seems unlikely simply because it would be way more effort to fake all that. Is it really that hard to believe that he favored bama, changed his mind, but then chose bama in the end because his girl had him wrapped? If he did fake all of that, he's more likely to win an Oscar than a Heisman. I think some fans-- feeling jilted-- found it more satisfying to skew the narrative and decided (with no factual basis) that he never really considered LSU and hence wasted our time.

Beyond that, I still don't see how the coaches were left with their **** in their hands. Again, Landon was a bama lean for some time. The coaches were as aware of this as anyone. They gave it their best shot to convince him to change his mind... and I think they did before his girl got a hold of him after that weekend. Bottom line... even if the coaches considered it a longshot to turn him, do you think they should've just thrown in the towel? Can you imagine the backlash here against Miles if he simply gave up and stopped pursuing Landon? The staff tried, almost pulled it off (maybe), but didn't. It happens. I don't consider that the same as getting played and left with their junk in their hands. And I still don't see any benefit in the least to verbally abusing kids for choosing a school.

I've always had a problem with how the mother handled the situation. I'm also a die hard lsu fan but it is the athletes decision. I just prefer how somebody like Archie manning handled the situation. It wasn't like he was deciding which gang to join it was one world class university over another world class university. You win some and ya lose some in the recruiting world. Wish all of them the best of luck until they play LSU then I hope we blow them up every snap. And hope they are successful in whatever endeavor god sees best for their future.

I think losing Gerald and Speedy really is as simple as this: They wanted to "get back" at LSU. Gerald, for the fanbase bashing his brother for choosing Alabama, and Speedy for LSU not offering Ellis, whether both Noel and Landon were responsible for the way their recruitments (or our reactions) played out or not.

This. 100

Was thinking the exact same thing.

There are a lot of troubled athletes out there...most come from troubled and dysfunctional families...and there sure seems to be no shortage of them these days...it's too bad that they will not learn until it's too late that being angry and vindictive is the pathway to mental illness...but their family and political leadership has duped them very badly...poor, poor people...

I pity Collins if he signs with the saints. He has created a lot of bad blood in his home state.

no… just, no…

i have a former pharm. tech that's speedy's cousin, and what she told me directly, the day of the game, was that basically they WERE a package deal to go to LSU… the ONLY way they were coming to LSU was TOGETHER… however, after the state championship game, they had a falling out, of sorts…

now, I don't know the severity of the falling out, but considering the outcome, it must have been pretty significant and they didn't work it out, like i thought they would… her brother, Bryce, is a coach at Karr, and tried his damnest to get them to LSU, but it is what it is…

Gerald picking Florida was a direct result of too much LSU pressure by momma, him rebelling against that pressure, and the fact that him and Speedy were on rocky terms, at which time, Speedy made his decision to aTm...

I believe you, well because your story sounds reasonable.

Damn, if that is the case I sure wish Speedy and Willis would drop the immaturity, let bygones be bygones and flip back to LSU. We need them in this class.
