Only school he's publicly stated will receive an OV (so far). Granted a Georgia source but appears UGA a potential leader for Allen.

I would rather him go there than Ole Miss or Bama.

He may be overrated, but he's still top 50 tackle talent. Who else we gonna get? Seems every year, and 2016 shaping up to be the same, that Alabama, USC, Ohio State get multiple top OL, we get 1 or 2. And I know, "we'll be fine" but that's for 2016. We need 2-3 linemen each year for quality depth.

Is there a better OT in LA this year?

But LSU made up for that in the 2016 class by signing Teuhema and the reports indicate he has been impressive so far in fall practices. They also landed another one of the top Texas OT in Weathersby from the Houston area.

So I believe things are changing, as Grimes landed a solid class last time around & the OL depth appears pretty good.

Hang on until NSD to see the final results, but even if LSU does not land Allen, the OL recruits should go along with last year's very strong signees.

Weathersby and Teuhema have been working more at guard though. Elite tackles are rare, that's why losing Cam hurt, although LSU had Lael and now Hawkins. Allen has the size and athleticism to be great, but needs a lot of refinement. Hell some people said Greg Robinson was not a huge loss because he was too much of a project and he got drafted #2 overall. Allen could pan out or not play a down in college, but o lineman with potential aren't pervasive.

And Valentine is a future LT so we have future guards and a LT. We need another good offensive lineman recruit either this year or next for the Rt spot in the future and not to mention Brumfield being young still

Last year we got Valentine-Okeke, Teuheme, Magee, Wheathersby and Brown. Like or not, that will not help you this year in recruiting. I think Allen is still a take, but his ranking seems to be based on potential and he had a terrible summer it sounds like. Also, I'm always just a little skeptical of Curtis kids. Seems like they are always overrated in recruiting rankings.

Donavaughn Campbell(Ponchatoula) 6'5 340

The only reason he is at the top is that this year is way down for offensive linemen in the state.

This is almost an understatement.

He was AWFUL this summer in camps. If he wasn't already highly overrated by all the services going into the summer he wouldn't even be a 4-star right now.

His performance on the camp circuits have lowered his stock, LSU is probably slow playing him now as well. He has a lot to prove this coming season.

He's a take. Tillery was a take and he was much worse. This isn't a speedy or gw, he's a good student. Just depends if he wants out of la.

Wat?

Tillery was much much better than Allen is to this point. Allen struggles with the msot basic stuff. He doesnt know how to use his feet and pass block, and is very very slow.

We need to snag Willie Allen. He has tons of potential to be great. Certainly needs work in some areas, but the good thing is that with last years class we have the depth to RS him and give him time to develop. His run blocking skills are much more polished and he mainly needs to improve with pass blocking. LSU's bread and butter is run blocking.

That's my thinking on the issue. If the potential is there, and not many other options falling in our lap, then don't run from the work required (which I've never known LSU's staff to do, now or ever under CLM).
