Defense has nowhere to go but up, that could be one pitch to use. Sumlin can convince those guys that they're going to be the ones to make it happen.
Turn the tables... and the entire principle of recruiting magically flips around to "we're so bad he knows he can make a difference" when talking a defensive player.

Which is why they will forever be a mediocre team in the SEC.

i would have thought that kids coming from curtis would put winning above all else.
The Curtis kids haven't always chosen LSU in the past. This is a thread from last year about Curtis and LSU LINK
And here's a list of every Curtis player to choose LSU since 2002. LINK

UCLA has come in and pulled some big boys out of John Curtis before.
Who could forget Aaron Meyer, Chris Johnson, and Fred Holmes.
Well, besides everyone

I'm not entirely sure I get your point, but the fact is our LBs on D were not very good aside from Claiborne. It is also fact that Kenny could come in and possibly compete for playing time from day 1. Maybe that is also true at LSU.

Dupre has been recruiting for LSU for 3 months with Adoree, and nearly living with Miles. I think he has gone out of his way to say just wait until NSD. Why not visit FSU and scout it out. They have a stacked house and room for 1 more commit with about 10 wanting in. Even with some attrition in the commits playing time would be an issue for almost any freshman.

How does posting those links support that argument?
All that shows is LSU has gotten 8 out of the 10 guys they offered from Curtis.
The only two they missed on were Mcknight & Watson both to USC. Watson wasn't a big loss he ended up transferring to Southern Miss.

Uh oh, so now the "experts" are back at it again picking him to LSU today. They really have no clue

Yeah I think it was him, he's always changing from I hear.

It's stupid to try and fit kids from Curtis, or any other School, into some kind of pattern. They're individuals with their own reasons for going where they go. JT, contrary to the many geniuses, does not steer kids.

UCLA DC went to the league/Titans

I think all the traveling to different schools can be an advantage for LSU. The exhaustion of traveling during this period and the realization of the proximity of LSU could play to our advantage. I'm not saying all these school are the same because UCLA is a different animal than Texas A&M and Arkansas. My feeling is early playing time is playing heavy on his mind too.
Can LSU offer early playing time for Young?
We probably cant sell it like a whore as much as some of these other schools.

quote:agreed. even if we tried, probably couldn't. It's debatable, but LSU's LB corp has been called "thin" by some (not my opinion) for the next year. But LSU doesn't need immediate help, he'd see right through it if they did try to sell it.

What LSU can sell over TAMU is a more confident path to the NFL. Not that he can't get to the NFL via Uckla or TAMU, but with LSU being more noted for it's defense if you stand out there, you stand out more nationally. Just a given. Plus a better squad makes a better player from a statistics POV. That's LSU best (only?) angle.
Personally, I think KY is going out of state. Probably TAMU. I do not think the Curtis boys are going to be playing together.

Pro scouts don't care, they judge players on their own ability. Dontari Poe was draft in the top 10. He played for Memphis, they were like 2-10. One of the top LB's in this draft will be a kid from Buffalo. The idea that a guy from A&M or UCLA wn't be as noticed is comical. Joe Blow CFB fan and bloggers that do way too early mock drafts may notice guys from top teams and defenses, but the guys that get paid to do the actual drafting will find kids at any D1 program.

If he does, DG and a few others deserve a lot of credit. How tight is DG with KY and do you think DG influenced MM a few weeks ago at the game?
