That comment about 2015 class is hard to believe ??. Wow. We better prepare for LSU to lose more good LA player next year too. It's impossible for us to get everyone we want, Especially with how technology has made the world smaller. Get home sick, skype or FaceTime your family. Players aren't afraid to go OOS anymore. Although, I think the Karr boys knew they were going to leave the state.

I think deeper just means more with FBS level talent, not necessarily as good as the top was this year.

It's not as top heavy, but there are many very good players throughout the state

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's tough on LSU, they can't just carpet bomb offers like out of state schools can do. If we offer an in state kid, we're kinda bound to them, for PR reasons. We have to be 100% sure the kid meets what we're looking for before offering and sometimes we lose ground because of this.

You've mentioned recently that certain changes were coming regarding recruiting. Can you discuss this?

I totally agree. And kids these days are a lot more sensitive about not getting offered early. Then it's like forget LSU. We just have to hope LSU can be able to manage this better. Hopefully the top LA kids make their decision early enough where we can focus on snagging the big OOS kids.

I don't think anything is etched in stone, just that there will be an overhaul. That could mean a bunch of things, but putting more emphasis on NLA with our best recruiters seems to be one, also, Frank needs help in NOLA, not sure how they address that.
I'm hoping for a bigger budget and more staff, since we hear often from the kids leaving that "(pick a school) just seemed to want me more." It's people on the ground letting the Coaches know who the influences are with these kids, the people on a Recruiting Staff monitoring the kids' Social Media, etc that we're lacking. Hopefully, this is addressed.

I think this bodes well for LSU keeping more of the instate talent next cycle. 5* top 25 guys are gonna get offers from EVERYWHERE, whereas a 4* top 250 guy won't be pursued as heavily by OOS schools. (unless he has a 5* top 3 friend...ugh)

The Bama's and A&M's will offer a ton anyway. There's no repercussions to them if they withdraw it later.

No way, to replace a top kid with a top kid from OOS I can promise you not only does the cost go up but the amount of time it takes the coaches to recruit that player goes up also.

Top priority still needs to be signing the in-state talent and then compliment our needs with any OOS talent we can sign.

I think you took that the wrong way. Pretty sure he meant we're recruiting better nationally.. Which is not being negative, IMO

It is so random to me that you posted that picture. That is in Norway. Been on that ledge dozens of times when I lived there as a child.

Pretty amazing spot.

Good information, Bowtie. I was also wondering if you felt LSU needed more staff to combat Bama and others who seemed to respond more quickly than LSU and most other schools to the new NCAA rules allowing for some recruiting duties to legally be done by non-coaches.

That's why I believe the rumors that Ensminger will move into an administrative role. I've heard Larry Porter as his replacement. I wouldn't mind getting Derek Lewis from UF. He is a former St. Augustine guy I believe. Or even Kevin Mawae as a TE coach.

Brick Haley is now running things in NELa. I expect big, big improvement in our relationship with the schools up north now that he is taking over.

You just need interns for this job. Assign each intern 5 recruits to follow on social media and report back to the coaches on a predefined regular basis. It's cheap and effective.

That would work! Also, assign someone to work the Coaches' Twitter pages, some of our Coaches have like two Tweets ever.
