Bringing Larry Porter back would be good, he's even UNC's ST coordinator. CJ is gone, he probably would have come if the WR coach spot wouldn't have opened back up at the Saints. Truth is O, and probably Canada, wanted some of their own people. O ran off BDP, Craig, and Juluke, all CLM guys that quite frankly didn't produce at 100% in recruiting the past 2 years, and will get some more high powered, energetic recruiting sumbitches to come in and coach em up. He's had an inside look at how these guys coach and recruit for the past two years. I'm sure this wasn't a knee jerk reaction. Besides, a lot of assistant coach turnover happens after NSD.

It's being reported but last I checked the Saints website was reporting the Nolan hire but nothing about CJ. Hmmm...

Yeah - I should have said "doomed both" - Craig is an offensive guy AND was the RC (unless I'm wrong about that - there was some talk of Austin Thomas holding that job as a non-coach, but that was before he jumped to USCw, however briefly)l

We may be overthinking the Craig thing - could be Canada wanted a relatively clean slate - with Ensminger moving to an administrative post (likely) and now Juluke and Craig out of the slots, he gets an entire offensive staff refresh, minus OL (Grimes) at this point.

A few people on 247 are hinting like they know some specific reason Craig was fired, but I'm hearing it was just about recruiting.

They were both brought in here to help elevate our recruiting game to a whole new level and that just hasn't happened. We could have had a top 10 recruiting class with Joe Schmoe recruiting for us. Juluke's local ties have been over exaggerated and Craig was nothing special himself.

I have no issues with moving on from these two.

Too bad about Curtis Johnson going possibly to the Saints. The guy knows how to coach WRs, and has enthusiasm that Red Bull show try to bottle. Hard Worker.

There isn't one, other than some vague insinuation of tension between O and Craig. I was told it just came down to O not being all that impressed with Craig and Juluke's recruiting abilities. Neither is mutually exclusive and one could cause the other.

That sucks - he is about the closest we can get to a Frank Wilson right now.

Maybe.

If CJ isn't an option for WR (and I hope all those assuming he goes back to the Saints are wrong) - then how much does Joe Sloan make at LaTech? We can outbid them. Kid is not even 30.

Looking back I think Juluke needed more time before he got here. To go from tech to trying to land the #1 RB in the country is a big jump.

O is in charge so more power to him if he thinks he can find someone to do a better job.

Canada wanted to bring in his own guys. Coach O agreed because he was in a hot mess with hiring a OC. Coach O then put craig and jaluke on show me what ya got to keep ya on status. Neither blew the top off. So now you have what we have here.

Also one of them, not sure who ruffled O's feathers over what he felt the person recruited for himself and not for LSU if that makes any sense.

And so it is. I knew this was coming. It always happens right after NSD. From what I hear it needed to be done.

Makes plenty of sense. Craig has been linked to half a dozen job openings in the last two months. In fact Craig's most likely landing spot is Bama, where his biggest target just signed.

Can't disagree with you at all. Juluke "lost" Moses and "lost" Akers. I'm sure those didn't help him one bit. Canada wants the reins of his offense. Can't blame him. If he gets the offense rolling here, then power 5 HC jobs open up.
