how short sighted, we were literally One play from beating them the last 3x's we played in Death Valley

Maybe the 2 previous years to this year. But there is "literally" ZERO plays in the world that erase a 10 pt. lead.

ETA: I do agree that we are MUCH closer to beating Bama than the "chicken littles" will admit.
2012: we dominated them physically, giving up ONE sustained scoring drive (two 2-minute drills before each half is what killed us)
2014: "cute" kicking game
2016: 0-0 going into 4th Qtr

There isn't as big a difference in the starting line ups. Hell, LSU may actually have had better starting line ups, but Bama has the 2 and 3 deep that are better than 90% of the teams they play, it's why they grind teams to death..just like LSU did until Saban took Miles' mojo. That said we have fans that have literally given up hope that we will ever beat Bama with Saban. IMO it's part of the problem and seems to be permeating and propagating negativity throughout the fan base and the state. Our fan base has become a pathetic sight...I liked us better back in the 80's..at least we had a good time!

Sorry Buddy but you don't even have Donte Jackson or Kevin Tolliver in here at all. There is no way we have 5 freshman starting (Red shirt and True)

I forgot to plug them back as starters at each a CB position when I was gathering the last 2 classes. The point of the post was to show the massive depth at defense that we have from 2016 & 2017 classes.

Did mention that Battle will be a starter

I do not think Donnie Alexander will beat out Jacob Phillips and Devin White holds down the other ILB spot

Herron has not started by now for a reason and he will not in his 5th year- Logan or Farrell are better than he is. This was a spot I had Wilson in but he picked FSU.

A very well balanced class. All I can add is that it's been years.

Clemson still figured out a way to score a lot of points on them mainly because of D. Watson. LSU Def held them to 10 points. If the only loss LSU has next year is to bama, then we'll be in the playoffs. The offense needs to improve a lot. The Def needs to do as well as last year, and LSU will do well.

Not when you can't score a single point. I think the biggest advantage Bama has over LSU, and a very significant one, is the O-line recruiting and units fielded. Our D-line can go up against their O-line man for man and match up well. Elite talent both ways. Our O-line can't go against their D-line man for man and match up well. Elite talent one way

This right here. At least for the vanilla pro style of offense LSU has played the last several years. I would take one year of no DB recruits for an elite Oline class. What turned LSU into a national power was that early Oline class that Saban got with Whitworth, Wilkerson and Niswanger. Getting Spears, Hill and Williams on the Dline didn't hurt either.
