You must not have read reactions to my post when I said basically the same thing. I said we should offer high profile players no matter where they are. I used 5 stars to mean good players but the emphases was on "anywhere" and I quoted Orgeron himself to clarify.

Its obvious by how low the recruiting $ spent was that there hasn't been enough far range recruiting and or consistent recruiting of close propects. Other SEC school have spent 3-4 x what LSU has. It easy to say LSU doesn't have to go far because of in state talent but it still shows some laziness or the feeling of entitlement.

I recall a post were someone stated Coach O would have Louisiana as his recruting territory. Looks like coach O has the entire country.

Coach O's just on a different level than most when it comes to passion for recruiting.

O has free reign to go anywhere he wants for DL talent. By the end if the cycle he will have his touch on most of our commits. Its the way he's always been. He puts his finger on everything recruited related. He and Frank are gonna be a great team

Why is everyone assuming it was O who extended the offer? It could be the works of our new WR coach considering this was his recruiting area at Georgia.

Agree and it could've just as likely have been Ensminger since he coaches TEs. I think the O thing comes from the thought that this might be a DE offer instead of a TE offer. Kid can play either. He's just ranked as a TE. Regardless it likely doesn't matter since we are not likely gonna land the kid.

The recruiting budget and the low amount is directly tied to our location and recruiting strategy. We don't venture out of the region very much like most schools. We stick to the state much more than most schools and after that we hit Texas, MS, AL, GA, TN and FL. Not gonna spend a ton of money going to those states. The biggest spenders go nationwide much more than we do and they all leave their state much more often. Its not laziness. Our staff works hard in recruiting. We just don't shoot for the moon with many national kids. Should we? Maybe but we haven't lately and are fine so I'm good with it.

CalTiger53, what is your obsession with 5* players? Serious question. Do you think that we should pursue all 5*s? Only 5*s?

It's bizarre.

nonsense.

Many of the players LSU missed on were having grades issues.
Yes, lost Cam Robinson and "I have a warm feeling re the assistant Bama coach's wife" Landon Collins. Its not like LSU did not get other state's best guys at all while Bama got the best OT and the best safety in the USA. Over the past few years, even without Ed O, LSU has commits from very high end players from out of state.
PP7? Remember him? Florida.
You know the #1 mlb from Illinois? He's on LSU now.
Shep (5*) was from Tex.
Lee was from Tex.

I love what Ed O is doing. I love that high end players from distant locales are getting some love from LSU, and are being "courted". Some will fall in love.
