He just posted a picture on Twitter obviously on his Auburn visit. His caption was “ WDE?”. Honestly makes me a little nervous. I know that every recruit is entitled to their visits and that doesn’t mean they will flip, but we really can’t afford to lose him in this class.

I agree, he is a game changer and one I'm really looking forward to this class.

Supposedly solid. MLB is the biggest competition. If he flips to Auburn he most likely wouldn’t have been able to stay academically eligible here anyway.

Not concerned about Auburn at all. Be more concerned about the MLB.

Vol may have more info but everything I read says he's all LSU unless he goes very high in MLB draft. He wants to play both at LSU.

He's probably going pro in baseball, dont really care about other schools, that will be the biggest hurdle.

He’s been committed for like 2 years. I’m more worried about him going to the MLB than another school. He’s a projected 1st-2nd rounder.

This is a little dramatic especially considering we could push for Raydarius and Jay Ward.

Sounds like a stud CF...would need a poor senior year on the diamond to fall out of 1st round money...

“School: Memphis University (Tenn.) HS Year: Senior Position: OF Age: 17 DOB: 08/01/2001 Bats: R Throws: R Height: 6'0" Weight: 195 lb. Commitment: Louisiana State

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 65 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50

Hampton is one of only four players named an Under Armour All-American in baseball and football, joining Kyler Murray, A.J. Brown and fellow 2019 prep outfielder Jerrion Ealy. Named Mr. Tennessee Football at the Division II 3-A level this fall, Hampton not only is one of the Draft's top outfielders but also a four-star cornerback ticketed to play two sports at Louisiana State if he doesn't turn pro. The most athletic prospect to come out of Tennessee in years, he could be the state's first prep first-rounder since Mike White in 1986.

Like most athletes who star in multiple sports, Hampton needs refinement on the diamond, but his huge upside could make the patience that will be required in his development worth it. His right-handed swing could get smoother but still generates impressive bat speed and exit velocities, giving him the potential for 25 or more homers on an annual basis if he makes enough contact. He struggled against quality pitching early on the showcase circuit last summer but continually improved and gave a glimpse of what he might be if he focused on baseball.

Hampton has dynamic tools beyond his raw power. He's also a well above-average runner who can make an impact as a basestealer and a defender. He definitely has the quickness for center field and also flashes plus arm strength that will enable him to play anywhere in the outfield.”

2019 top MLB prospects

Word around that school is that he is a gone pecan if the draft slots he's hearing come true.

He's being told he'll be a 1st/2nd rounder and he'd be pretty foolish to pass on that.

We will have a better picture in the spring as to what teams are looking at him, how much his football commitment will raise his price, and what teams have the money to sign him. Too many variables at this point to feel like he's definitely a 1st rounder. He's still extremely raw compared to his baseball peers.

I graduated high school 2 months before he was born. First time I’ve really felt old.

If he doesn't sign early, I'm guessing that means he may not end up in class. PM did mention him as part of the baseball incoming recruits at the last coaches' meeting assuming it's not MLB drafting him out of both sports.

This is pretty hard to believe.

It’s a tough situation... if he signs in football and then goes pro in baseball in the spring, then we not only lose out on a great dual sport prospect, but we also can’t backfill for the loss. Once he signs, his spot in the count for 25 in 2019 is sealed whether or not he ever steps foot on campus.

It's a big risk and the timing makes it harder.

All we can hope for is that there has been open and honest dialogue on both sides, and that both parties have as solid info as they can get relative to his MLB draft status and likely slot position.
