If you are the best player on the team and get benched for more than half the game. I'm assuming it was something serious enough to be sidelined. Now if I'm the best player and I want to play to win then I'm asking questions. Point being, I find it hard to believe that Devin was oblivious to why he was benched. More than that, I'd be willing to bet his benching was deserved.

And that is based on what? Coaches are some type omnipotent beings? They are never wrong? They are not human? It is not smart to base opinions on no facts whatsoever. It's OK to say I don't know what happened and will reserve judgement until I get the facts.

I dig it. I guess I was reaching with my assumptions. It's great when you struggle to think of who could be the diva on your team.

But then again, I'm struggling to think of who the committed diva is, besides Sullivan, but he's no longer committed.

White was benched for not giving effort.

Not giving effort is a sign of bad charcter in my eyes....maybe different in others. He can have all the talent in the world, but if he takes plays off then he is not a team player and or lazy. That mindset aint gonna cut it for our LSU Tigers and we simply dont need that virus. I would hope his high school coach continues to take steps towards humbling him. High school sports is about growing up, becoming mature and learning life lessons. Dwhite is hopefully progessive in his learning this. I'm pulling for it.

I said it was an assumption to begin with. Secondly, I said I would be willing to bet it was deserved. Yes it's my opinion with no first hand knowledge (mostly what this board is based off of, lol). I wasn't stating facts based off of zero facts or whatever you think I meant.
Common sense goes much further at times.

That's usually a fair approach. The problem in this situation is....according to what some will think, there will be NO FACTS. Anyone who looks into it will get different versions that are at odds w/ each other and multiple different opinions, but NO hard facts. When faced w/ a shortage of facts, common sense and good judgment are what you've got left. From what I've heard from people I trust and have knowledge of the situation, I'm comfortable w/ my opinions. My opinions may not represent a fact to you, but so be it.

Having said that, there've been a number of comments said here directed at Devin that I think have been overly harsh. I've seen Devin up close and personal many times in the past 4 seasons. He's always been respectful, polite and friendly to me. I've not seen the kind of "character" problems some here have observed from afar. No, he's not perfect, but who is, especially amongst teenagers. I hate to think how I would've behaved as a 17 y/o celebrity. Yes, I've been a critic at times of Devin's lack of effort and I'd tell that to him. But how dare someone who doesn't know the kid and has never been around him start talking about character issues. Nevertheless, his teammates like him and respect him. I'm pulling for Devin and expect him to be a good teammate wherever he goes next year.

I believe individuals and the team have learned a lot from last week's game and this week's practices. I'm expecting a really good performance tomorrow from both the team AND Devin. Personally I think this topic has been beat to death. I'm ready to watch a good football game tomorrow night.

Very well written. Agreed. Commenting on character may be to harsh for a 17yo. However, lack of effort can be categorized however you like. I'm a critic of it as you are.

It's not an attack on his character, I'm not foolish enough to cast judgement on a kid's character I don't know personally. My concerns are with LSU and the future of our running back position in 2017-18. Isn't Devin the only RB we're recruiting?

I was around Devin last night at a team dinner. The team appeared very up for the game. Team morale was very high. Talked with Devin myself and he was very upbeat and assured me a great game tonight. Watching team members interactions with Devin and everything looked like there were no problems. I hope and expect actions from last week served their purpose and North Webster / Devin are on the right track again. Growth and development curve pointing up again. GEAUX KNIGHTS!

Do you realize how many guys we could load up on in the 2017 class? Edwards-Helaire, Carter from Texas, the Swilling kid? Those are some great looking backs. We'll still have Guice, Williams, Brossette, and Ducre in 2017 as well. I really didn't think we needed a RB this year, and would rather White at MLB, but if he hasn't played that this year, then he isn't an immediate help.

I mean, I know he wants to play RB, but we have more pressing needs and different positions, and these guys are great at their positions.
