Devin got a taste of humble pie this past Friday. He had less than 50 yards rushing on quite a few carries as their team was overwelmed by 5A Ouachita parish HS 33-0.

He is definitely a good athlete and goes both ways. Games like this will only make him "rezoom" his focus on the small things. He looked good as a pure tackler and - at times - put some big league hits on Lion ball carriers.

Was lucky to see him in person - because he certainly looks the part as a difference maker at the next level. Sorry, no official stats to share.

I wondered how this would turn out. I figured he would struggle to get yards due to the differences in athletes. He can't play all 11 positions, it's high school, sometimes you have the horses and sometimes you don't.

Wasn't he pulled from Friday's game?

Yes, he was. Devin didn't see the field from early-mid 2nd qtr on. Let's just say the benching was "in game discipline." Like almost all teenage boys, there have been times Devin's attitude could be improved. OTOH, from all accounts he'd shown an improved team leadership role this season. We've got a good and conscientious coaching staff that will figure things out in a way that's fair to individuals and the team.

OPHS was clearly the better team last Fri night, but out TEAM performance was disappointing. We've lost 2 games in a row and some of the team's not dealing well w/ that. Some of the problems can be fixed w/ a win (which I hope we'll get Fri).

He was pulled from the game but was never given a reason why. Coach told his dad he was waiting for him to come tell him he was sorry and then he would have put him back in. How can you say you sorry for something you don't know you did wrong? The other coaches didn't even know why he wasn't in the game.

If you are the best player on the team and get benched for more than half the game. I'm assuming it was something serious enough to be sidelined. Now if I'm the best player and I want to play to win then I'm asking questions. Point being, I find it hard to believe that Devin was oblivious to why he was benched. More than that, I'd be willing to bet his benching was deserved.

No one here was there to observe what happened, but I'm pretty confident Devin knew what was going on and what he did wrong. There are things people should recognize as being wrong w/o having to be told. This problem can get worked out successfully if other parties stay out of the situation and give it a chance.

As an ex-coach, parent, and ex-teacher, I never saw a coach pull his best player out of a game for no reason...be logical! I had kids, even my own, lie about things that they just didn't want to admit to...it goes back to what I have spoken about recently...these high profile athletes that expect special treatment in high school often head right into trouble when adults don't stand their ground...it's not easy sometimes when the entire community exert pressure...I'm on the coach's side all the way...help the kid grow up into an adult by teaching him about "LIMITS"...jmho

Diva White cannot be one of those players that just plays. There HAS to be drama surrounding him. I would hope that LSU could corral that, but I wouldn't lose sleep if he didn't come.

I'm with you on this. LSU has another 5 star that is similar to this and thinks the world is owed to him. I would honestly rather not have that type player on the team. Plenty of time to grow up but I'd leave them in the dust if they bring the drama.

Yep, he was pulled late in the second and never got back in. Word is, the HC chewed on him for not hitting the hole hard and the kid popped off at him and kept walking. He's the GAME CHANGER... he don't need a coach.

I admit I never saw Ducre play in high school. I imagine Devin is faster. Devin also has pretty quick feet. When he wants to, he can run as hard as anyone. One of my friends was at the North Webster football complex this summer when 3 or 4 assistant college coaches were there on a recruiting trip for Devin. They all said the most unique thing about Devin was his ability to hit top end speed so quickly, frequently while still in the hole.

His game still needs work.
Especially needs to work on humility and maturity, but shows little interest in that type of development.

I have no idea who he is referring to..

I can't think of any real divas or drama-like players on LSU currently. Guide has a ton of confidence but he's not one to complain.. He puts in serious effort on and off the field. I can't imagine who he's referring to.

I'm really struggling to even think who he is thinking of..

I'm speaking of a 2016 commit, not a current member of the team. The reference was made to having similar drama as DWhite.

I think our current players at LSU have great team chemistry and team leaders all across the board. I think this past year staff purged the bad eggs. Im just saying I'd rather have a team like the one we have now alll day over bringing in some drama queens.
