The question didn't suggest anything. I stated as fact Craig's recruiting abilities and the importance of the position he vacates.

People seem to think good recruiters grow on trees - interesting.

We will see.

I think Craig's actual recruiting ability has been a bit overstated. He's landed a few big fish but people act like he was on Frank Wilson's level or something. He wasn't.

They kind of do, especially ones like DC

Craig struggled with the coordinating end of being the RC. Kind of an issue, wouldn't you say ?

You know this how?

His history would say otherwise - a lot more history would say he is an excellent RC. One would have to be very organized to be a that good for those years, wouldn't you say?

While obvious and true, I think this will be harder than it seems.

Has he ever been a RC anywhere else?

There are things that concern me about Coach O. But recruiting is not one of them.

you realize as the RC you're responsible for more than just simply recruiting, right? He has no history of that.

Can Thomas be titled as 'recruiting coordinator' to allow himself to recruit, even if not an on the field coach? Or as the 10th assistant? I wonder if O is thinking along these lines to get AT permanently on the trail in some capacity.

If Pete moves to shadow staff, then we potentially lose the waiver, unless O has something else in mind.

Low information people here seem to think that the best recruiter on the staff should automatically be the RC. Because Frank Wilson did both for so long.

They're basically selling Frank short on his organizational skills, in the same way those people also said "He's just a recruiter, he won't be a good HC."

Good recruiters are often charismatic personalities. Sometimes they have quirky, charming personalities. Think of these guys as sales staff for the company.
in business and football, the personality traits that make for good salesmanship, do not always make for good administrative skills. As a result, it doesn't always make sense to put your best recruiter in a position which requires a good deal of organizational skill, diplomacy or administrative ability.
There are indications that Craig was a better recruiter than recruiting coordinator.
I am concerned that the same principles are at work, with even greater force, in the elevation of Da Coach O from DL/ RC to Head Coacho.

Come on P - I said nothing of the sort.

With all the opinions people love to give out here I think the fact that no one has answered with a name and good reasons for the name, seems to demonstrate my point.

Everyone is happy to see DC go for hearsay reasons and yet everyone also thinks he will be easy to replace.

Yall have fun.

You're asking the wrong question. Instead of saying "omg how can we possibly replace Craig he was such a great recruiter" you should be asking "Given how great of a recruiter he supposedly is, what else could have possibly gone wrong for him to be fired after 1 season."

Maybe people don't feel like answering the same question on multiple boards and you should read the threads on the rant to see who people are suggesting and why.

Good points, but its not like he was demoted - he was fired.

Generally speaking, the RB coach has been a good place for RC to be and generally speaking again, the RCs are good recruiters, from what I have seen - natural progression I guess.
