Although Lewis is from Mississippi he is a long way from Starkvegas, he is from Brookhaven(so am I). There was more to his recruitment than "pulling someone from Mississippi." Believe me when I tell you there are a lot of LSU fans in the southern part of Mississippi. Probably as many as OM, MSU, and USM in our area. Southwest MS and the Gulf Coast is more LSU fans than all other schools.

I think this is a good sign for LSU because anytime you may disappoint people who you live close to or associate with frequently, you wanna do it as quietly as possible. And if I'm right, I don't see Gay pulling a stunt like Etienne and disrespecting MSU on the way out. I think WG chooses LSU in much the same way as Phillips chose LSU with class and respect toward the "other school" once the decision is announced.
I hope I'm right.

Nope I have been following for a while. I don't see many recruits throwing up L's, and saying he is coming down to BR to be a tiger and not commit. If he doesn't commit, you fools will be calling him a huge troll and wishing him to play like shite elsewhere.

This board melts so rapidly. Gay is not on this board, thank him for that becuse he would have commited to MSU. So we only speculate with this guy is going to do. He has assisted LSU in Philpps commitment one or another. I believe he will make the right choice!

One thing to remember is that Phillips was very well known to LSU prior to the allstar game when Gay was clowning with Phillips on camera. In other words, Gay wasn't recruiting Phillips to LSU, or at least seriously, and Gay didn't 'open LSU's eyes' to Phillips. Maybe they talked about playing together; they for sure did connect at the game.
Phillips at the game definitely changed his recruiting. The stuff with Gay is probably just coincidental. If Gay hadn't been clowning with him and said his famous 'tell them Willie Gay is on the way' statement the LSU coaches/reps would have still noticed Phillips performance anyway. Which was a factor in LSU making a concerted effort (and devoting less effort to Moses & Allen) to go after Phillips.
So to connect a push for Phillips to Gay's statements isn't accurate. The connection is Phillips' performance at game and the push following that, he just happened to pal around with Gay at that game.

Nah. If chooses to stay home without taking shots, few will make a big deal about it. As for him throwing up the L and his comments at the all-star game, that was just the emotion of the moment, and if got him and Philips noticed. But emotion fades and package deals rarely work out. This is nothing and nothing to get bent out of shape about.

Is it possible Gay knew Phillips was going to flip and he was flashing the "L" for Phillips? Basically saying, he going.

Maybe all these kids want to come to LSU because they're tired of Alabama winning all the time, they know at LSU they're the missing pieces to bringing down the Tide and would be high NFL draft of a choices at LSU. I bet some of these recruits have Alabama fatigue to. They know the type of benefits they receive when your a Bama
