If Gay commits to State would Phillips feel betrayed? Why would Gay lead Phillips towards LSU, yet commit to MSU? It doesn't add up. I wonder if Phillips texted Gay to let him know before the flip or if Phillips' visit was all he needed and doesn't care about what Gay does.

NSD can't get here soon enough. Every year I tell myself not to get enamored, yet here I am....

I don't think there is a saga. Kids will make their own choices.

they've got to do what's best for them

phillips understands learning under aranda and co sets him up for success at the next level.

hopefully gay will do the same but he is not basing his decision on phillips

You're overthinking this thing. Gay isn't the reason Phillips is at LSU. Phillips made this decision for himself (unless you ask James Hale).

Gay is a kid that lives in Starkville. It's going to be tough to pull him. And it seems Gay likes to create some drama, so we'll see.

Kids are staying away from Ole Miss and UF right now. Will hopefully work in our favor.

While I don't disagree, LSU pulling a kid from Starkville should be much easier the Alabama pulling a kid from BR, yet Chris Allen is gone. Hopefully we can get Gay and balance the karma.

Hey I've been racking my brain for years over how difficult it is to pull a kid from MS after they've displayed so much crap on the football field for decades.

Not getting hammered by anything. Just thinking aloud and trying to make some sense of it all.

Lol, I guess so. I blame the Sooners board and one of their posters hoping Phillips gets betrayed by Gay going to State.

Chill my arse! I'm sure he's chilled, just dumb to say shite like this cause the guy is asking a legit question. Willie Gay is hyping this this kid on LSU, yet, he hasn't made or sure is taking his sweet time making a commit to LSU if he is going to at all. Kid's play games all the time, true, but don't be all hyped for this man to come to LSU and then you stay in Starkville.

We don't win like Bama.

And Starkville is the size of a Baton Rouge suburb. Much tighter knit community. Everyone knows everyone.

It would be like pulling a kid from Thibodeaux if there was an SEC football program there.

Either gay is coming or he has pulled off the biggest troll I've seen in recruiting.

Eh...I think most (if not all) just love the attention. It's easy to be "all in" for this school or that school when there is no deadline fast approaching. Feelings start to change once the pressure is on to make a decision. That time is now.

I'm sure the kid probably does like LSU. He'd probably remain friends with many of the LSU players even if he chose to go to another school. LSU is certainly a far superior program that MSU right now, but sometimes that feeling of letting down your hometown, friend, family is strong for a 18 year old kid

I'm sure Mullen is pushing him with the "hometown" argument as well as him being the centerpiece of the MSU class as opposed to just another (albeit an important one) guy at LSU.

Gay logged off of twitter until after NSD a few days ago. I don't see what drama he's causing right now. Phillips chose LSU on his own.
