UCLA is pressing QB Hayden Rettig to flip from LSU to the Bruins. The latest from Rettig's mouth - @JHopkins247

Sure it will be a battle, but I think it is one that we will win. Especially once he comes in town for a game. LSU is just better than UCLA in every aspect except for the home advantage, and Rettig's big bro plays for BC so it is not like the family can't deal with distance.

ETA: UCLA just beat Nebraska with a freshman QB. Rettig will be at LSU.

He never visited UCLA ... he stayed home and watch the LSU game on TV. Said he only plans on taking one visit this year and that his official to LSU. 100 % committed and doesnt plan on looking at anyone else.

I didn't know he's from Pasadena....interesting.
He plays for Cathedral, not Pasadena. Cathedral is a Catholic prep school in downtown Los Angeles.

Section 225, Saw that and am impressed with the kid.

Because he plays for a private catholic school doesn't mean he isn't from Pasadena. Not saying he is either because I don't know but private schools have no jurisdiction as far as I know. They don't in every area I've ever lived in.

He lives in Pasadena. I had a huge argument with a fellow coach and Trojan alum about Hayden today. He said that Zeus is in no way a SEC caliber QB and definitely not someone you recruit across country. I loled. So much Trojan butthurt.

You wont have to wait long if he stays committed. He plans to be an early enrollee.

UCLA is recruiting many QB's out here. I saw coaches from UCLA at the La Miradangame Friday night looking at their QB's who already has an offer from the Bruins. Retting would be a get but for them but I think he is game to leave the state. His brother is at Boston College and Mass is a lot farther then La.

The last California 5 star who "committed" to LSU ended up at UCLA. I'll believe it when I see it. I think these kids use powerhouses like LSU and Bama to get better offers from others.

He's definitely not a lock.

dude is as close to a "lock" as you can have.... i will say it now, that there is about 0.001% of him going anywhere else....

i think the "he's not a lock" comments are due to left over angst experience with our last verbal from CA, Cassius Marsh..... Marsh, however, was a longshot to come here, and was a surprise verbal to say the least.... and while Rettig and Marsh share that quality (being a surprise verbal), they are far different.... Marsh stayed close to home for family.... Rettig doesn't have that burden, as his brother plays even further away from the family than he will end up here at LSU....

If he finish at this pace and perform decent at the all american game he will be a lock for 5 star. Rivals already in love with him anyway's.
