Yeah in theory.. But Landon Collins wouldn't have been drafted where he was had he not wore the Alabama uniform for 3 years.

Same thing with Jalen Collins at LSU.

I don't think it's just theory. It can't be proven on individual guys of course but do you honestly think Collins would have been drafted much later if he had gone to LSU? There are some in draft circles that question Bama DB's because they've maxed out so maybe he does go in the first from LSU. The #1 overall pick 2 years ago was from Central Michigan and plenty of other non P5/BCS Conference teams have gone in the first. A guy from DIII Hobart was drafted in the 2nd round and they traded up to get him. High profile teams like LSU and Bama certainly help, past rep of the schools/coaches may get some marginal guys looks they may not have at smaller school but If you are talented enough, the NFL will find you.

they would laugh, but Les made the hire Sumlin shoulda made. You need elite talent to have an elite D.

Sumlin is a good recruiter but he's heavy on the offense. If Aggie has the horses to pull Chavis' lack of recruiting on the D he'll be fine. Aggie isn't quite in the recruiting war that Bama, LSU, AU are in.

Chavis laziness/unwillingness to recruit + 3rd and Chavis hurt LSU for the last few years. Maybe the move will give Chavis his motivation back. I sure hope not.

Sumlin had a lot of success last year because of Johnny Football and the belief that his defense could only get better. Johnny Football is ancient history, and he proved that it was possible to add talent to your defense and still suck beyond all belief.

Well actually, he has yet to add any real talent outside of Garrett. IF they can accumulate talent on defense, then I will worry about their defense. Thing is IF we can consistently get what Mett did in 2013 as just a "good year" in production for our QBs, it won't matter.

With Cam and Franks and the WRs, 2800-3000 yards 24 TDs should be scene as just a starting point in the future (if Cam stays that long).
