Both guys we have now already have a better career than Kiel because they didn't shite the bed and decommit from two different schools.

Zero sympathy. That sounds like a jilted lover and I acknowledge that, but the way that he did things was pretty poor. Had it been any other year besides the year that Landon Collins and Davis did the same thing (essentially) the board would have crucified him.

Of all the positions, I feel like QB is the last one you want to vacillate. You need people that are dedicated and want to be somewhere. He has the physicals and mental tools, but it looks like he didn't have the desire to compete at a high level. As such, this is no surprise.

Just to wrap up this chapter...SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP)
Quarterback Gunner Kiel is leaving Notre Dame without ever playing a down.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly announced Tuesday that the former standout from Columbus, Ind., who was one of the top-rated quarterbacks coming out of high school a year ago, plans to transfer. He was the scout team quarterback his freshman season as the Irish went 12-1 and finished the season ranked No. 4.
Kelly says Kiel was told he would be given a chance to compete for the starting job.
As a senior at Columbus East High School, he passed for 2,517 yards and 28 touchdowns. Kiel originally announced he planned to play for Indiana, then said he would attend LSU before enrolling at Notre Dame.

Still don't understand why he transferred. Only thing that would force me to leave a school I committed to would be if the coach told me that I have no chance to start.

Other than that, get your arse in the film room, fall asleep every night reading your playbook, and throw 10,000 passes before the fall. If he's as talented as he thinks he is, he should definitely be in the mix to start. This isn't the NFL with guaranteed contracts or anything.

Sounds like he wants to be handed the job without working for it.

Maybe you missed last season... Everett Gholson is their man and he was just a FR. It probably has to do with the recruits coming in too. Kiel is not a dual threat type and Gholson is. If other recruits coming in are same type then read the handwriting on the wall...

GK failed to show up for ee on the day class was to start. Well that is pretty damn low, although i suspect his doting parents esp his mom called the shot on this. It screwed us on another recruit who went to Auburn cause we were short on schollys. I think it worked out in the long run, but time has moved on. Will wonder, what if he had showed up and produced if he would be number #2 and heir to the @1 position when met moved on.
Guess we will never know, but i also wonder if we would have picked up the two quality QB we got if they knew GK was being groomed for the starter.

Who cares? This is an LSU board, not ND.

Give your Tigers some love, not a guy who does not have "THE CHEST" to attend LSU and compete in the nation's best conference. Again, who cares?

He should have just stuck with IU. It was close to home, not as much pressure, surefire playing time, it suited him perfectly.

I remember Denard Robinson was all the rage a couple of years back too. What happened to him? There are countless other examples of QBs that lit it up one season and ran into walls. GK tapped out way too soon. He's weak.

I daresay Gholson was a product of their weakass schedule. Didn't do shite against Alabama.

Yep, the book is out on how to defend him. I personally think he'll have a struggle next year. Don't forget, ND was basically handed a couple of victories......but that's sports...seriously though, they should have lost a few and he wouldn't have been thought about in such a great light because he struggled big time in some big situations.

NO WAY he is the starter in 2 yrs
