Big interior DL guys aren’t supposed to rack up tackles. He will be a guy that eats up blocks which we don’t have many of.

This. People are stupid. We need him to swallow blocks so Perk can come down flying like a bat out of hell instead of getting washed an offensive lineman

Looks like signs of major desperation at the DL. Just grabbing big fat bodies that are lucky to have some starts after years of college.
In the meantime, Kiffin gets Walter Nolan.
Hope he pans out but not the greatest portal DL prospect of this year.

Look at the ole miss 25 class compared to the LSU one and get back to me.

LSU's DL must be in bad shape.

Paez is the definition of a JAG.

You say "WHO?" Like you can name any portal dl right now. Anybody we would get out of the portal is someone you've likely never heard of

The DL room is in no position to be “meh”-ing any additional bodies

Especially someone with his experience and age. He’s a grown man entering his sixth year of college.

He might also still have some upside. He was a junior in high school before he put on pads for the first time, and didn’t play varsity until his senior year. That’s one reason he was redshirted at Wisconsin, and it took him some time before he saw significant playing time at Wisconsin.

What are you expecting to get out of the transfer portal in spring?

There won’t be any Walter Nolan’s in the spring portal

Started 6 games last year, that’s more career starts than all of our current tackles combined

He only had 22 tackles, and .5 a TFL last season so his numbers don’t pop out

Maason only had 27 and guillory 23. DTs aren’t really racking up tackles if he can give us that production coming off the bench I’ll take it

Exactly. Baker wants his DTs to eat up blocks to allow for the more athletic LBs and the Star position to come up and make tackles. I heard more than a couple people who saw Saturday's practice say that the LBers were almost impossible to judge because the OL was getting to the 2nd level so fast and neutralizing him. A 23-year-old grown man who's been in Wisconsin's weight room for 5+ years can only help with that. We're not looking for the next Aaron Donald--he doesn't exist and if he did wouldn't be available--we're looking for guys to add to the rotation that can give good reps without a huge drop-off. This guy fits that. And I doubt seriously he'll be the last we get and likely won't be the best we get.

Warren Sapp wasn’t available. Sorry you think we should accept guaranteed draft picks.

You will have more lsu players hit portal after spring practice based on where they see themselves on depth chart

It will work itself out

I only expect movement in rooms where lsu is crowded...that is the safety room and the wr room

Yes he started 7 games this year and had 25 tackles and he is a breathing body that plays DL
