He'll be good for them. Unfortunate we couldn't get him but he is out for himself and that was evident from the moment he threw TJ under the bus by lying about our recruitment of him. Hopefully Baylor continues to have the NCAA hammer placed on them as players like gathers have their hands out.

At least that keeps an NCAA Letter of Inquiry out of our mailbox.

We can actually get somebody who can help us a little bit more. But Gathers needs to be the last "name" player out of Louisiana we lose until we're capable of recruiting quality people out of state on a regular basis.

If, by "people", you mean "nobody" then you are right.

He wasn't that good. He can't hit outside shots to save his life. And I know he hits some in his highlight film, but that's because he shoots 30 times in a game

He would have been a GREAT addition for LSU, at Baylor he'll be one of many. As Baylor's program matures, they'll see more one and dones. You know the ones you have to promise a starting spot.

If Gathers doesn't have the first season he needs to stay in the starting 5, he may find himself increasingly on the bench as the one and done-ers take up the starting spots.

LSU wouldn't have been as glamourous as the Drew-Baylor thing, but he would have been a foundation stone to the new program and would have been a starter as long as he was here.

But TJ's leaving came a little too late. Can't blame him for not wanting to get into that mess. But he is certainly not a guy who was a Superman like Monroe. There are other Gathers out there.

Jones first task is to lock down some LA talent as a base, then go out and pull in a few OOS players. We can't let the Gathers types even consider going OOS in the future.

Hint: Schedule some home games in New Orleans...sell the product where the talent is

Gathers may be at LSU as a transfer in a year or 2, that wouldn't suprise me

Exactly my thoughts, especially if he's not a first year player in demand for the NBA Draft. Calipari's changing the way programs are run. At least for now, LSU needs to take a page out of a mid major book and get seasoned 4 year players to win games. Once LSU establishes fan interest and winning, then maybe we take a stab at one and doners.
