When ND starts kicking arse in a couple of years, it's going to be funny reading all these posts hating on them.

His problems had nothing to do with talent or the competition he played. It was upstairs that was the problem.

Bryce Brown has been in Knoxville lately. Left KSU. Supposedly training for the NFL draft.

His problem isn't his talent. It's the mental part and a lot of his problems aren't actually his but the people around him..

Darell Scott is playing well at South Florida now. After stints at Colorado and a night in UCLA. He could get drafted if he does well at combine.

For Michigan Kevin Grady was supposed to be the next A-Train and dude barely even touched field. People still say he's the best HS runningback they ever saw

and FYI William Campbell has a good chance at starting next year. WAY too early to even think about calling him a bust

Saw him play in high school he is one of the best high school running backs I ever saw, and was shocked he decided to follow his uncle to Colorado.....

I agree that ND will be getting much better in the next few years primarily because they are really starting to add some top talent on defense. I still think they'll have 3 problems. Michigan is getting better and will be a great battle with ND over the next few years,USC will continue to be more talented and better than they, Kiffin just needs to not screw it up and they'll never be able to beat the top team in the SEC. They'll win 10 games and get BCS bids but they won't compete legitimately for national titles.

Hope Gunner doesn't take note. We haven't been that successful with our QB's in the NFL either. Neither one of the two we have now will even be drafted. And Jamarcus embarassed us forever..

Unless Notre Dame drastically relaxes their academic standards, their days as a national football powerhouse are over and done. They've joined Princeton, Army, Santa Clara, and the Carlisle Indian School on the ashheap of NCAA hasbeens.

And I am very torn up about it.

Clausen is perhaps one of the 5 worst draft picks of all tiem.

He and Brady Quinn were Mel Kiper, Jr's favorites. I think Kiper, Jr is still being investigated for the Clausen Mess

Powell is starting for UF but has been a major disappointment. Surprises me a little.

The Orlando Sentinel has an article where they discussed Florida's 2010 class with an editor from philsteele.com. Here's what they said about Powell:

quote:

No player faced higher outside expectations than DE Ronald Powell, the top overall recruit in the nation. Although he improved toward the end of the 2010 season, Powell struggled at times in a hybrid end/linebacker position (called the Buck) and coaches have said they needed more production from him.

"I would say the expectations were for him to be a dominating player," said Pertner. "We just haven't seen it yet."

Here's what they said about some other highly rated 2010 U of F recruits:

quote:

Few other players have had as big of an impact as Trey Burton, a QB recruit who has played no fewer than five positions at Florida. The Jack-of-all-trades approach isn't likely to last next season, but Burton was one of the few positives in an 8-5 season last year and has been just as versatile this year.

He would be my No. 1 on the offensive side of the ball. Trey Burton was a guy that wasn't very highly rated," said Brandon Pertner, an assistant editor at PhilSteele.com. "He's been the biggest surprise so far coming out of the class."

Besides Burton, the class has several other starters with most on defense. S Matt Elam, DT Dominique Easley and DE Sharrif Floyd have been among the most productive in the class. On offense, RT Chaz Green became a starter after redshirting.

The Gators also had high hopes for RB Mack Brown and WR Quinton Dunbar. Brown has been stuck down the depth chart behind upperclassmen, while Dunbar lacked enough consistency to be a reliable deep threat this year.

Muschamp learned well under Saban as many players from the #1 or #2 2010 class have been processed:

quote:

A total of nine players in the class have transferred, including seven since Muschamp was hired. Most recently, S Josh Shaw and DE Lynden Trail left the Gators in late November. While the reasons have varied, the departures have affected Florida's depth. Safety Jonathan Dowling has been the only player kicked off the team, leaving in November 2010.

Interesting stuff.

Jai Eugene was supposed to be awesome at CB and never could learn the position. Russel Shepard hasn't impressed me except when they use him in the wildcat a few years ago.

That only points out the change in our QB coaching this year. Some won't admit it, but JJ and JL both became serviceable college QBs this year after being totally lost the last 3. And I think it's pretty clear that JaMarcus' problems were of his own making. Coaching, competition and exposure (and, OK, maybe Al Davis' poor judgement ) got him drafted #1.
