Someone said the other day that private universities can get away with it more. Is this true? If so how

Vanderbilt and their ability to get non baseball scholarships to baseball players is an example. I don't know the exact details, but it's been cited as a huge advantage.

They don't have to disclose every financial record. It's much easier to hide money when everything isn't open to the public.

If it were a huge advantage do you think major programs would let private schools get away with it?

The answer is no.

The advantage is so huge that I find it unfair, but it is in no way "cheating".

They got away with it for years until it became just ridiculously egregious.

No the largest cheats use the system and are state funded like Texas.

When SMU was turned in by Texas which of those 2 schools was offering more to their players?

Texas picked the wrong rbs over SMU's 2 and got jealous and turned the Mustangs in to the NCAA.

They still have to legitimately qualify academically for those.
Vandy dispenses donation shollies like gum drops. All perfectly legal and a huge advantage for them. No one should blame them for using what's available.
