STA may have an academic advantage over Ponchy and Hammond(overall, not the IB program), but it's not worth the extra ched. You're not exactly getting a quality education anywhere in Tangi. I say this as someone who graduated from one of those schools...

Neither school is very good, just like most rural Louisiana public schools.

Using ACT and scholarships offered and from where as a measuring stick - we felt STA was the best bet. The magnet program doesn't have enough history to prove itself. I agree that Tangi may not be up to par with some other parishes, but sometimes you have to play the hand you're dealt.

Nope.

In Tangipohoa Parish if your black you can attend and transfer to any school in the parish you want to without penalty.

Now that sounds more realistic. Still not good that Hammond cant get more production out of those kids on the field. They have talent, it just needs to be exposed.

Hammond has always had talent, that hasn't been the issue. The character and morals of the staff and players is the issue. Ponchatoula and Hammond have been bitter rivals forever. Their has always been fights and other stuff going on during games. But for the last 20 years it seems like winning is secondary for Hammond. They step off the bus wanting to fight. Some years its worse than others. Hammond needs a coach who has some class and doesn't allow his team to act like common trash. They have no discipline at all.

Your whole post is simply not true. Up until around 2005, Hammond was a very strong program that consistently made the playoffs and put many players in college. That parish's school board is very corrupt and has been ruining athletic programs as well as academic programs all over that parish in the public schools

What athletic programs has the school board ruined? The school doesn't run the athletic programs each individual school runs their own programs. The only thing Hammond has had going for it in the last 20 year period was the period that Carmon Moore was coaching. He was able to get through to the thug element at Hammond and keep them focused. His teams were disciplined and were good. But if you want to talk about corruption? What happened to the 10,000 plus dollars of jamboree gate money that went missing while in the possession of Carmon Moore that was supposedly locked in his truck?

I am no accusing or anything just saying what happened. This is what was reported in the Daily Star, the Hammond paper. I never heard if the money was found, returned or what.

It was never found. His window was busted out of his car and the money box was stolen. Are you accusing him of stealing the money? If so, that's pretty big balls you got hiding behind a screen name on a forum. Everyone in that parish knows that entire public school system is down the drain. No one to blame but the leader of the school system

I honestly couldn't careless what the parish does all I know is that ponchatoula schools are in good shape and the best in the parish. The parish is lucky Ponchatoula hasn't broken away and formed their own district.

This is not true!

He could transfer to any majority white school without penalty. He would have to live with a parent or guardian, t transfer to Kentwood without penalty.

Ponchy is an average school at best. It just looks good compared to the rest of the parish. No I didn't go there, but I know many who did and they completely agree with me
