or pretty much stay the same?

face it, if penn state, Nebraska or just about any other team signed our class they would be dancing in the street. our friggin' problem is that we are in the same division as bama.

imo, we improved our team by this class and will be a better ball club next season. BUT, it's mind blowing how hard it is to get top linemen (both OL and DL) to come to LSU (at least in sufficient numbers). part of it is the state doesn't produce enough generally to built top notch lines so we have to go OOS. and O is doing just that but it is less successful than in state recruiting. he's damn sure giving it his all and recruiting everywhere (even Utah).

we are keeping the vast majority of guys we want in state but no program keeps all of them. it blows my mind that bama signed 8 DL; all 4 or 5 stars and we signed one 4 star and 3 3 stars. and our coaches busted their behinds to do that.

we've improved but still have a mountain to climb to compete for championships.

I do not see this as an O problem at all.

Are you really asking if having a #3 ranked recruiting class moved us backward?

I don't understand you people some time.

Backward? #3 class?

you obviously aren't smart enough to understand the idea I presented. I will restate it "LSU is a better team with our new class but LSU didn't pick up any ground in the trenches".

i'm not sure what you mean. I think it's O's biggest problem just as it was with Miles and damn near every coach LSU has had. I do not think it's O's fault tho so maybe we are saying the same thing.

Time for your nap gramps

This thread is absurd and one that I would expect from "those" people over on the rant.

Moved forward for sure. Just bc we didn’t get Sopsher doesn’t mean LSU moved backwards. Best place finish for O and for LSU since 2016

If Braford, Thomas, and Ika can get down to around 320-330 we landed three monsters in the trenches

What the frick kind of question is this?

Moving backwards with a Top 5 class nationally?

Jesus Christ. You should go back to the Astros threads and spread truth there too......oh, wait. That was a complete failure as well.

I agree. but we signed one 4 star Defensive lineman and basically one 3 star guy.

and I didn't state we moved backwards, I asked the board what they thought.

the overall class ranking doesn't prove much. I am very happy with this class with the exception of the DL results.

Its a fair question and those who are quickly dismissive should take a deep breath.
This class ranks well according to "stars", but not materially different from many Les Miles hauls.
So, how did we recruit to our needs?
we restocked our skill positions, including RBs, DBs and WR's which have been historic strengths.
But we did not significantly improve our haul of top
OL or DL. One top player for each.

you are one hostile person. I guess you are still butt hurt about some comments I made several years ago. and I see you're reading comprehension is still not very good. a question (like I posed) is not a statement of opinion nor a statement of fact.

instead of a personal attack, I urge you to consider my question and give an objective response (to the question, not to your dislike of me).

We had a cornerback depth problem. We had a #1 Runningback Problem. We had a Line problem.

We signed 4 Corners, including the #1 Corner.

We signed 2 Runningback, including the #1 Runningback.

We signed 5 Offensive lineman and 4 defensive lineman. (Edge rushers like Desmond Little will probably play most of his time on the defensive line)

This class was great, yes we missed on some big names but it was still an amazing class.

Here, let me help you out here. This is a direct quote from you:

And I'm the one not smart? Bahahahahahahaha. I don't think you understand the meaning of the term "moving BACKWARD'.

So, answer your own question. Did we move BACKWARD with this #3 ranked class?

What an awful way to word a thread when basically just making the 1000th tired proposal that the d-line haul was underwhelming. This is bad and you should feel bad.

Being thin in one area of one recruiting class does not mean we moved backwards. It just means this area needs to be addressed next year.

FWIW, in the DB, RB and LB positions we knocked it out of the park.

Truth is, we stayed the same. LSU has had NFL talent for a long time. What we haven’t had since 2012 is an elite defensive line as a whole. We signed some good players there. We still lack athleticism at offensive tackle. We still are behind the big 2 in Bama and UGA. We got our typical 4 star athletic QB recruit - time will tell if he’s any different.

This looks like your standard LSU class over the last 10 years - which is not a bad thing.

we got the best o linemen in the state. much needed. we stole a 4* OL away from major big 10 powers right out of Michigan. we got an incredible athlete at linebacker that will see early pt and can cover the field like a bandit. lost greedy and got stingley. never thought we'd get a 2 gap plug from the west in Ika (my god almighty, bama wanted him too!) . took the #1 player in Tennessee away from a damn good recruiter in Pruitt. we had "try hard, serviceable" running backs last yr and really couldn't lean on our running game while burrow got his feet wet. we signed arguably the #1 rb in America. he has breakaway speed and exceptional hands out of the backfield. we swept him away from Kirby, WHO SIGNED 5- 5 STARS. also got an underrated bruiser in tyrion. we took what ibelieve is the #1 qb out of the state of Alabama. I think parrish can turn into a weapon. he strikes me as a hurts type of qb.
remember, all of this is on paper, but these are some big "wins". yes, we "missed" on Ish. not sure we could've done anything else short of going full SMU with him. IMO- damn good class. I think Ish to bama makes us feel less adequate in comparing dicks, but its because we have bama envy. damn, a top 5 class is never a losing proposition.
