I'll admit that I've been one of the guys who is very concerned about the LB position. On a defense that looks to be DOMINANT up front and ridiculously talented in the backfield for at least 2-3 more years ( if someone can please teach them to tackle!! ), the LB corps looks to be a weak link in an otherwise BCS-NG caliber chain.

However, looking at our roster, this is who we currently have coming back or coming in. I was actually a bit relieved. We've got a few guys with great measurables and anyone moved to the LB position would likely be a great fit, as well.

Kevin Minter... LB... 6-1... 225... Fr. RS Suwanee, Ga. (Peachtree Ridge HS)

Ryan Baker... LB... 6-0... 227... Jr. 2L Grand Ridge, Fla. (Blountstown HS)

Stefoin Francois...LB... 6-1... 215... Jr. 1L Reserve, La. (East St. John HS)

Lamin Barrow... LB... 6-2... 221... Fr. RS Marrero, La. (John Ehret HS)

Nick Rice... LB... 6-1... 219... Fr. RS Coppell, Texas (Coppell HS)

Tahj Jones... LB... 6-2... 205... Fr. RS Sulphur, La. (Sulphur HS)

Seth Fruge... LB... 5-11... 200... Fr. RS Welsh, La. (Notre Dame HS)

Justin Maclin... LB( DE )..6-4.. 230... Fr. HS Memphis, Tenn. (Ridgeway HS)

Luke Muncie... LB... 6-3... 223... Fr. HS Klein, Texas (Oak HS)

D.J. Welter... LB... 6-0... 226... Fr. HS Crowley, La. (Notre Dame HS)

Jarrett Hardnett...LB... 6-2... 230... So. TR Baton Rouge, La. (Woodlawn HS/Northwestern St.)

Josh Johns... LB... 6-2... 206... Fr. RS Baton Rouge, La. (Central HS)

Hilliard has exactly what miles wants in a running back. and that is size to run constiently off tackle. rather than being switched to lb, i think he will get every chance to play early due to this. he fits the ridley and scott molds

For everyone who is up in arms about Les not signing a LB in 2011.....

We went after 4-5 top LB prospects that decided to go elsewhere. This year was a down year in terms of LB talent in the state, & there is no need to go after a prospect we might not have recruited otherwise just to sign a LB and appease the "recruiting specialist of this board."

Although Louisiana may not have as many top notch players as a whole in 2012, there are 3-4 top notch Linebacker prospects for 2012 in the state of Louisiana.

So stop your and Les

He's said that he hates LB and wants to remain RB. If he gains weight in college, he'll still be able to move under Moffitt. I'd love to have him churning over CJ Johnson at 230-240 in 2 years!

Didn't everyone say this about Ridley? Also i think Louisiana is unusually loaded at LB next year Granier has already committed too.

Yep. In fact, everyone else was recruiting him as a fullback or linebacker. The main reason that he came to LSU was that we promised him that he could play RB. Everyone on this board was saying, "Ah, but he'll switch positions eventually."

I'd say that worked out OK.
