So the guy Jason replaced as OC took over as AD and then fired his ex-boss.

Now the current OC is online telling us the guy that hired him has been fired.

Sounds like a great place to work!

Its always cool when your ex-offensive coordinator starts the "BOOM you got fired thread." Oh, Jason. He hired you out of coaching 7th graders, bruh.

Yeah that's what I was doing the year before. The info that was in that article was from a phone conversation with an advocate sports writer that had asked me what I had done in the last 2 years relative to coaching. Offensively speaking, quiet a few school records were broken last year. I new before the season was over that I couldn't put myself through another season of coaching in a situation like that. There is a reason why there were 5 OC's in 4 years at CLA. I ended up getting other coaching offers both high school and college and also got married so a healthier coaching situation is what I was already planning.
Thank Max

Glenn Barris was the stand in AD until they could get a full time guy which they did last summer. Glen Barris got out of coaching after 2008 and is a full time minster and teacher at the church there at CLA. I'm not the current OC, I moved on to a more healthy situation for myself.

Why did they wait until now to fire him? They should be starting practice within a week right...?

I have no clue why they did it now. I was surprised to by the timing of it as well and feel bad for the kids because the timing couldn't be more worse.

Perhaps Capone could get on at Catholic. Pretty sure a few of their coaches have moved on from last season.

I saw Christian life play in basketball and football. Do those basketball players play football? Most of my friends in coaching tell me the Christian Life basketball players don't play football for the most part. That is the problem if this is true. These basketball players who are 6'2" need to realize they are too short for college basketball, but as a football player they could dominate with their athleticism.

This sounds like a firing that had nothing to do with anything on the field. Doc has had several of those over the years.

This was not the case when I went there. We had several big time football players that played basketball as well.

They have two kids that are playing collegiate ball, if not 3. I wouldn't risk my hoops career to get beat 156-14 in the Dome and then never win again, either.

Loyola doesnt even have a Junior High..

St. Johns is the junior high next door so I guess thats what they were refering to...Correct?

Yes, the person doing the phone interview didn't write everything that was told to them. I was the Athletic Director for a Jr high football program that is a feeder program for Loyola that involves schools such as St John's, St Joseph's,
Saint Mark's, Southfield and Caddo Middle Magnet.

95% of the time when Todd Foster was the Head Coach in basketball at CLA they didn't play football. Todd told his players they weren't allowed to play and if they did play football they wouldn't be allowed to play basketball or that he would take away their starting position. We had 3 basketball players play on our team last year but they were all reserves. 2 of the 3 that played were our 2 leading WR's last year and one of them Frank Bartley broke a few school records that had been held by Michael Clayton. If we would have had 4-5 basketball players on last year's team on the football team we would have had the most explosive group of skill guys hands down in the state in Class A. The 2 main reasons the basketball kids don't play football at CLA is number one Todd Foster over the years and Warren Capone.

That's just just fricked up. Coaches need to let kids play.

I hear what you at saying Pisces and respect your opinion but knowing what I know about the demand for 6'1 to 6'5 basketball players in the NBA it's not incredibly high. If you have Early Doucet, Antonio Gates, Jimmy Graham, and Randy Moss caliber skills you can play football at a very high level. That's just my opinion. Michael Clayton has also done pretty good for himself.
Jason I heard pretty much the same thing. Unless they have a lock on an full basketball scholarship I see no harm in a kid keeping football open as a possible option. I think kids should be encouraged to make their own decisions. There may be extremely rare exceptions in certain cases but for the most part if the kids should be encouraged to experiment. They may find they actually like football more and are actually more highly recruited at it.
