Just said that it's a bit disappointing having the #14 ranked classs considering that O is in year 2 and the amount of turnover in the SEC in terms of coaching.

Mentioned that having the 14th ranked class isn't gonna cut it especially being ranked behind teams like Auburn.

Had other reasons but can't remember. I think he mentioned that Mickey Joseph wasn't carrying his weight on the field and in recruiting.

Hopefully we finish strong.

Always good to judge the class based on incomplete and subjective rankings two full months before it is finalized.

The only part I agree with. It may be time to cut our losses with Joseph. After February at least.

He's probably right, but this class is unique.

First thing, this is a down year in Louisiana. I don't care who you are, if your states class is not that strong your recruiting class isn't that strong.

Second, I honestly believe, this class has a few underrated guys in it. Guys that I think the recruiting services missed on. Cole Smith for example, he's not a 3 star center. He's a stud. Sheffer is another guy, he's going to be a very good all around TE. He's better than a 3 star.

and then of course, this class's top guys haven't even committed yet.

While we usually have access to more high profile recruits here in LA, take a look at what State has done the last 5-7 years. They have built very good offensive and defensive lines out of mostly 3 star players. If you target the right guys who for what you do and you coach and develop them properly, you will have what you need on the lines. THEN you add in a few 4 and 5 star sure-fire guys and you go from solid to spectacular. This class is about building a more solid foundation for those lines.

I would think Hanny would be smarter than to be a star gazer but I guess not.

Rankings and stars don’t mean shite. They all have talent. It’s how they develop that talent.

I just don't get this line of thinking. Our problem with previous classes has been over-filling the skill positions, and being thin on the lines. They have been highly rated, but they have left us completely void of depth on both lines. Now we are filling needs and people complain about not having the flashy players. Clemson's past 4 or 5 recruiting classes have been ranked from anywhere around 16 to 10. They don't worry about finishing ranked high on ESPN or 247. They fill their needs.

Want a better recruiting class? You can start by not bashing the head coach or coaching staff the other 11 months.

Kids and their parents digest everything they hear or read to help them decide why one school is minutely better than the next. If a considerable portion of the fan base is ripping the hire its gonna have a negative impact. Blame yourself.

the staff got 10 of the 12 4 Star players in the barn prior to or on day 1. it could be much worse.

The Orgeron die hards are gonna hate this. O being "the best recruiter in the world" is their main argument. Well besides, "he really wanted the job."

I'm glad that you mentioned the balance of our football team. We have the skill players we don't have the offensive and defensive line depth. We've seen first hand this year how difficult it is to win when you don't have depth in the trenches. I respect coach O for going out and addressing the needs of the team first. Now its time to bring in the skill players.

This here man. Orgeron is going to be here at least a little bit and bitching and complaining about how you didnt support this hire isn't going to do anything other than turn recruits away.

Well, he pretty much filled the major depth issue at DL & OL in one early signing period and will finish with a top 10 class in one of the most down years this state has seen in a while. So there's that.

I take it Hanny (whom I respect) thinks we should have cherry picked some recruits from the schools but who specifically does he have in mind?
