Like I said, off the top of my head. I'm not going to mine 15 years of rosters.

Which compensated for their lack of height

Despite being short.

Do me a favor, Lester Earl. List the short players from Louisiana that LSU didn't recruit who went on to significant college success.

Ware wasn't undersized. He weighed damn near 225 or so.

Im not saying they never do. But offering the fastest player in the state or the #1 player in the state is pretty safe, even if the guy is slightly undersized.

Brazil, Mathieu, and Magee were not terribly undersized. All are in the 5'9" range. Usually rare for a CB, but at RB, its about the size you want back there.

Hard to say exactly who wasn't recruited because of their height, or who flat out just wasn't developed enough athletically at the time.

Some River Parish guys: Darius Reynaud, Demaris Johnson, Jericho Nelson?
Mike Wallace?
Tony Bua?
Chris Brown?

dunno. Id have to look around.

Who?

You basically reinforced my point. If a player is good enough, the LSU staff will look past his height. It's not like we passed up on Zach Thomas and Darren Sproles.

And is now a top 10 RB

I dont see him listed as a top 10 RB anywhere...

And you asked what does he have to prove? A lot. Every year LSU has guys that are under the radar type players that go to camp and dominate. And they end up with an offer. And most of those guys make a significant impact at LSU.

If he wants an LSU offer, going to camp is his best bet to get 1. By going to camp, you force the staff to watch you. You make them notice you. And it gives them the opportunity to be kinda hands on with the players. They get to see how coachable this kid is and how responds to criticism.

And like other people said, the state of LA is always loaded. We pass on really good players every single year. Its just how it is. You cant take everybody. You have to decide who you want. And, LSU has a few other guys ahead of Bussey. With a few of them in state as well. Just how it is.

Mike Wallace was about 170 coming out. Rail thin. LSU didn't give him a sniff.

Chris brown played at OKla. Among other things, had a 1200 yard season and scored 42 career TDs.

If he really wants to play at LSU, he should go to camp and get his offer like Russell Gage did.

Beckham was 165. Mike Wallace was also rated as a 2-star. There was more to LSU passing on him than being small. He was a late bloomer. We missed him, but he wasn't exactly a guy that was blowing the doors off of the state.

Shyrone did nothing in college. Trindon was good because speed is still a major component in college, and now is just a returner because everyone is fast in the NFL. Mathieu played running back? News to me. Spencer Ware is a bulldozer. Brazil did what for LSU again? Magee is like Ware, thick and powerful.

And also, Bussey is injury prone. He's been hurt like 3 times in the past couple years. Never anything so bad he can't recover in a few weeks, but not a good sign.

In his defense

Shyrone was never the same after he got hurt and...
The loose sod in tiger stadium really didn't help his style

Nor did that experiment with him at WR

Still if UT admissions office doesn't screw up......he's never a tiger

Kinda nice to see how shy turned out as a group!

I haven't seen the kid play, but there are certain positions that just have a lot of competition depending on the cycle. Rbs and athletes seem to be very strong in LA and every year a kid that could lay for lsu goes somewhere else because there isn't a need. There will be very talented wrs that don't end up at LSU because this class is loaded. You can't knock either party, it happens.

No what doesn't compute is you thinking the kid is too good to go to camp at LSU and earning a offer. If he wants it he will go. Simple as that.

He was listed at 165 as a recruit, which is the period when we're talking about. Feel free to go find Wallace's weight his freshmen year. It won't change my point. If you are slight, LSU will still sign you if you are good enough to compete.

Mike Wallace caught his first 12 passes as a junior. Again, it supports my point that LSU didn't "not recruit" Wallace because of his size.

He did struggle, which was a shame.

He has an elite skill that makes up for his severe lack of size.

No, I was just listing undersized players that LSU signed. Sarcasm noted

I'm not even sure what you're being argumentative about anymore. I think you must have completely missed the point I was making.
