This is better film because it is organized to give you a complete view. This kid would pee on himself to get an offer from LSU. This kid was coached two yrs by Neil Weiner and on by David Brewerton.

Good discussion, but there's a steep curve on any guy coming in as a true fresh. all of these kids seem to have good upsides. the hard thing to do is predict what they are going under the "big" lights. LSU has not had a true Franchise NFL QB since maybe Burt Jones (1973). Franchise meaning, drafted, started for multiple season with same franchise.

Time to change this trend.

Let me tell u dude, Its all about Winning. 5A football in LA is tough. The main thing for QBs is winning. Not one kid on Zachary's team has a major D1 offer, yet they miss the State Championships 9-3 to acadiana, finishing 12-2. You might wanna read the headlines to figure how they may have happened without a ton of D1s.

Nothing driving home on saturday nights after a beat, with feeling of Damn "I told u so". We need a winner.

Scott's HS film looks like Jennings HS film, but with a weaker arm.

The kid is talented and all, but notice none of those snaps were taken under center which is the main problem at LSU. Taking these type of QB's and then changing their games from spread type offenses to that pro style crap they run. These kids then begin to struggle. The problem is LSU's offensive philophsy not these kids. Change the damn offense and open shite up. Stop being so damn conservative!

If people are comparing him to Aaron Murray, he better be able to handle being under center. Murray thrived when under center.

I was about to post that exact comment, about Shea being another Brock Berlin.

do you mean Jennings had the weaker arm in HS. Scotts tape shows of great range. 33 seconds in, the kid flips the ball from his own 30 to the opposite 20 (50 yds) for a 65 yd td. (3rd and 8). 42 second into the film he flip one from the 42, 5 yds deep into the endzone. doesnt even step into the throw. @ 1:08 in the tape he launches another one 55 yds threw the air. finally @ 1:16, he launches another one 50 yds threw the air. The next play is a 80+ yds TD run. Jennings tape does not show much down field throwing. most quick stuff (snap and throw).

I am not comparing him to any of the 2016 QBs in this thread (cause they all are good). I do watch the film, and film dont lie.

People make a big deal about "being under center". Like its like putting a man on the moon. There is a difference, its about footwork. Watch these kids flim. Are they snap and throw? Is it 3, 5, 7 drop? Working through progressions? Or is the coach telling you who to throw to? If you recruit the most intelligent QB, who ALSO a good athlete, AND a winner, you got something.

He's definitely a winner. They dominated their district, and playoffs.

Calvary vs. North Caddo 66-14
Calvary vs. Lakeview 68-6
Calvary vs. Lakeside 52-7
Calvary vs. Homer 50-8
Calvary vs. Red River 49-0
Calvary vs. Dunham 59-21 (Playoffs)
Calvary vs. Riverside 45-13 (Playoffs)
Calvary vs. CNIHS 27-14 (State Championship)

Being under center is a big deal! Some QB's can't get used to it and struggle like Jennings. It's one thing catching a direct snap and then quickly throwing to primary receiver. Another thing when under center taking a snap while dropping back to look for that same primary receiver while under a pass rush.

I agree when you are talking about a lot of the modern quick game #stepandthrow. However, some offenses require 3 and 5 step drops out of the gun. the QB has to (1) catch the rock (2) carryout out a 3-5 step drop (3) then go through progressions. Not an easy task.

The short of is, when watching film, check out his footwork (under center or not). Is he looking off receivers (moving safeties with his eyes), find 2nd and 3rd receivers.

The offense Patterson runs he is shot gun but I've seen him working with his brother plenty of times from under center....a guy like Patterson who works his tail off on mechanics and form isn't going to let something like that keep him from playing. He works on EVERY part of tha game from coverages, to certain blitzes, etc. that's why when you watch him play it looks so easy to him

Oh boy, so the kids shouldn't want to be a pro where you have to take snaps under center and learn about three step and four step drops.

2) when we had someon who could complete a pass, we passed for over 3,000.00. exactly one year ago.

3) georgia has run a pro-style and will continue to do so. don't see them having a problem with qb's learning how to play the position under center.
