Just curious, can someone who has seen both play, compare Shea to Brandon. It seems based on the reactions on here to Shea, most consider him a much better QB that Brandon. If so, in what areas is he better? Also can someone compare their stats?

Thanks

I have no issues in watching his film, he can make all the throws needed.

Plus, he is a smart QB and a leader.

Others will follow him, he will be a beast recruiting for us if he commits.

well shea as a junior 38 tds 3 ints i believe passing and as a sophomore he had 30+ passing tds and only 4 ints.. that is down right incredible.. he could really explode as a senior..

harris had like 26 tds passings as a junior, but he had 37 tds as a senior with 9 ints

harris also rushed for 29 tds in those 2 seasons. harris threw for a shite ton of yards a senior.. like an incredible amount.. 3500ish and rushed for another 1000+ yards.. on a really bad team that he carried. harris was a star in his own right.. i just really like how natural shea plays in the pocket with his footwork and decision making.

I'm sorry but from someone that has seen each play i would take Harris all day. I watched both SP and BH play byrd. Harris destroyed Byrd while Patterson looked lost and did not look very accurate. SP has athleticism, maybe more than BH but from i saw BH is the the better qb. But what do i know? im just like you guys

also Harris didn't carry a bad team. that offense was phenomenal, the defense wasn't worth a damn

Not at all. It's not elite, but it's above average. There's a throw he makes from the 50 to end zone on the outside that shows me all I need to see. His offensive line wasn't spectacular, but his pocket awareness is off the charts.

Watching him live the last 2 years, Brock Berlin is the 1st name that comes to mind. Very calm and poised throughout the game. Never seems to get flustered. He's not going 80 yards untouched, but more than enough athleticism to pick up first downs when receivers aren't open.

I don't meant to be negative about the film but if I have learned anything the last couple of years watching this recruiting process its that highlights do little justice to the overall evaluation. I put more faith in things like you said since you have watched him for a while and know what his game tendencies are. Hayden Rettig's film looked like Phillip Rivers and he may still find success at Rutgers but evidently he didn't make the splash here.

Like I said earlier I still think he is the real deal but I wont fall for a film star that easy again.

This Jr QB kid is the 5A LA Offensive Player of the Year by the LSWA and is not even ranked by the services. He was one of three BTR players selected to the 5A State squad this year - the other two are committed to LSU with Guice being one of them. He has some pretty good film too...

Shea is much more polished at this time and I have no idea how long he's been playing. He is more accurate than Harris as well. Harris obviously has better physical tools, but is also very raw since he's only played QB 2 years before coming to LSU.

If Patterson picked up the offense, he could start as a true freshman, however I believe Harris will be set to dominate in 2016.

Harris
junior - 49.6% 2673 yards (8.73 ypa) 26 TDs 7 ints, 677 rush yards 12 TDs
senior - 63.3% 3518 yards (10.6 ypa) 37 TDs 9 ints, 1153 rush yards (8.0 ypc) 17 TDs

Patterson
soph - 61.8% 2655 yards (11.9 ypa) 34 TDs 4 ints, 241 rush yards (3.2 ypc) 3 TDs
junior - 64.8% 2438 yards (12.2 ypa) 38 TDs 3 ints, 134 rush yards (2.4 ypc) 3 TDs

This is better film because it is organized to give you a complete view. This kid would pee on himself to get an offer from LSU. This kid was coached two yrs by Neil Weiner and on by David Brewerton.

Lindsey Scott Full Jr Year

I think you will see this kid rise a lot this year because NOLA.com is starting to pump his stock.

People say this all the time and it is rarely true. Maybe some air it out spread west coast teams can do that, but we don't run that. Shea will need some time too. Look at his passes in traffic on his highlights. He is barely missing HS LBs in over the middle passes. You don't think backs in the SEC will eat that up all day? Kid has great potential, but the LSU fanbase simply ruins average to above average QBs because they want results now and if you don't produce, you get booed. Expect he will need at least a redshirt year to get ready.

I noticed that too and the cardinal sin of scrambling across the field and throwing back across the field the opposite way.

A LA Josh Booty huh?

Had Josh Booty went straight to LSU after H.S. instead of baseball, I think he would have been as great as advertised. When he finally came to LSU, he was only a shadow of his former self.

Yeah, I think Harris is going to be a monster by that time.

Harris is going to be the man. I have confidence Cam will get him where he needs to be next season and beyond.

Very nice highlights. Best thing I noticed about him is his command, pocket presence, and keeping his eyes down the field when he's moving in or around the pocket. This is something our current QBs (Jennings especially) struggles with. He checks one read and then breaks down mentally if it isn't there or he feels pressure.

Patterson does that excellent at the high school level.

It's definitely a big part of Cam getting Harris ready, but Harris needs to grab the starting job by the balls and not let go. He needs to know the playbook like the Bible and show he's the one to coaches and teammates by being first and last to practice, etc. It's his job if he gives it his all. Doesn't sound like he was ready to do that last year

How far you want him to throw? I've seen him throw 50 yards flat footed. If LSU needs to throw a hail marry then bring in franks an let him throw that 70 mph ball lol

And to the person who compared Harris and Patterson by the game they played against Byrd.....your comparing a senior QB (Harris) vs a sophomore QB (Patterson). Harris has a bigger arm and likes to use his legs....Patterson is a pass first guy who'd rather throw it but is capable of running.

Also those highlights are from his sophomore year not his junior year...

I said he could play as a true freshman and I meant if he was needed. Look at Christian Hackenberg at Penn St in his true freshman year. Look what Brad Kaaya did in Miami's offense. Kaaya wasn't even an early enrolle and beat out two 5th year seniors.
