I usually don't post highlight videos of my teams players on sites like this. Mostly , because they're kids and I don't like them being trashed or criticized.

Anyway, for w/e reason someone posted the link of one of the highlight videos I made on rivals recruiting board, and someone on tigerdbait picked it up and posted it on the TB. I was shocked at the response, the members seemed to really be impressed with the video. Some of the post were ridiculous IMHO though, comparing him to Josh Reed, or Mealey. He's pretty good but I don't know about all that. Anyway it was encouraging so what the hell I'll post it on here... If your bored have a look.

Byron Thomas Sophmore Highlights

this is our other RB's highlights, he's pretty undersized and I doubt he'll be given a chance on the college level, but he's pretty good...

What is Byron's 40 time?

Shifty guy, with good vision. Decent speed.

Undersized, Lack of Strength, always takes it outside (partially because of the triple option CL runs).

Thats my quick eval. from his film.

ETA: Cobie = way too small.

He's never been to a camp or anything, but we've had legit 4.4-4.5 guys on the team, and he's a little slower than that. Likely mid 4.5's - 4.6. Don't hold me to that he could be faster, that's just my observation.

Strength- In that video he was 5'9 155, as of the spring he was 5'10 170, he added about 15 lbs of muscle. He's been working out all summer so he might be a little bigger than that now.

Always takes it to the outside, that's true. Don't really know if he can run inside, with our offense he never really gets the chance to. Our Qb & fb's pretty much exclusively run between the tackles.

I've always seen him as a WR/KR on a low D-1 level, a La Tech, ULL or possibly a RB at a d-2. That's why I was pretty shocked to see him being discussed on an LSU forum.

Anyway, thanks for watching.

Why to bad he plays for CL? We're a better team most think. We were only 15-16 points away from being 9-1 last season. The only game that got away from us was the Brother Martin game, and that was just because it was our first game and we made mistakes/fumbles and gave BM the ball in the redzone for their first 3 td's. All that with a first year coach, a new coaching staff, and numerous 1st year starters. I think you'll be surprised at how much better CL will be in the next few years.

It's good to see him putting on the weight.

Can he catch the football?

4.6 won't get it done at major D1. He looks like he has good enough moves to find is way to a low level D1 school.

Is he smart? He could go to a place like Rice if he is. Or the Ivy League.

He can definitely play D2. He needs to go to some camps so that he can get his name out there. Even if the major schools don't offer him, if he could get a site like Rivals or Scout to mention him in an article then that goes a LONG way to getting him some exposure.

Exposure is everything. If he can get his video and name in the right hands then the ball can start rolling.

Good luck

yeah that's why we got our own district

cause it makes so much sense to drive 45 minutes to play ESJ & DESTY , instead of driving 15 minutes to play T-bonne, HLB, South T

How bout this, we should have a district with

ESJ
Hahnville
Destrehan
CL
SL
Thibodaux
Assumption

Then put the Terrebonne teams with the next nearest 5A teams, the ones in LAFAYETTE! Yeah, they'll only have to drive 2 - 2 1/2 hours to play a district game.

How about this? Make a district with

ESJ
Destrehan
Hahnville
CL
SL
Thibodaux
South Terrebonne
Terrebonne
HLB
Assumption

Yeah 10 team districts make so much sense, hell who needs to have non-district games?

We NEVER had a 10 team district, we did have an 8 team district, and all it did was cause problems. It Doesn't make sense to have a 10 team district when everyone else in the state has 5-6 team districts.

Also, you might want to go back check your records.

Lafourche vs River = River only has a 57 % winning percent against us all time. Destrehan is the only team to have a winning record vs all 3 teams. Also, if you want to really talk about crying to get in their own district, go dig up some old articles from the early 90's when ESJ cried not to be put in our district.
