So it used to be $40 and had good food... now it's $150 per head ($1500 for a table seating 10) and the food blows? This sucks. I have missed 4 (including yesterday)since the beginning waaaay back when it was at the field house but now it seems like they have finally crossed over to the "corporate side" and priced out the little guy. It's getting harder and harder to afford tickets with all the fees and now this? I hope there was a lot of exaggeration in this thread. After all, we invented the signing day party.

Miles, just a point, you said, "We got in free because my brother knew someone". and something to the effect they were understaffed.

You do realize if people get in free when they should pay, then the event will be "understaffed"?

Get'm Dreaux. That's what we need. Dreaux, just start your own event. I wanted to go but knew it would be a train wreck. We need to go alter on this day. Chicken needs to promote and we would rock the event. You have the right idea and the guys doing it now are lazy and it sucks. Even at the river center it was meh. Put in the hands of guys with passion because it's what the team deserves. Do it big a couple of years and you'll get the love from LSU. They can't ignore

The table was paid for. He just didn't pay personally

Someone obviously paid for his ticket; it was a corporate table, it isn't like he snuck in. Sponsors pay $150 a head for tickets and distribute them as they see fit.

The tables were always either $1000 or $1500 depending on your location.

Another reason why they moved. In the past every food vendor would ask for 20+ tickets for the bash. Then you add all the folks that got in just for being part of the gridiron club with their dues. They got charged out the arse for the river center and simply had to move.
All that being said I wish it was some sort of mix of the two.

Was a sobriety checkpoint setup at the exit?

That's what screwed the event up a few years ago.

They had one of those big police stands but I didn't see an actual check point.

All that said this board has more than enough to have an event on signing day and draw a BIG crowd

EBRSO had a mobile command tower set up with lights flashing on the way in, but as noted, I didn't see it staffed, coming or going. I suppose it was set up as a deterrent, kind of like Harry Lee leaving the empty patrol car on the shoulder of I-10 all those years.

I agree with saving the $10K on the venue, but our dues went up this year and the table prices stayed the same, so at least use some of those savings to upgrade the menu. I still can't get over them serving a bunch of rabid Tiger fans tomato rice and daring to call it jambalaya.

I missed the vendor food from the past-there were occasionally some really decent items served.

Great idea!

Petition Chicken to organize and sponsor a "Rant Bash". I guarantee you it's a success.

Wasn't a damn thing free about the food, and you sound like a dumbass accepting crap service/food when you paid for it.

I can guarantee you that the dude who cooked that jambalaya was not from Louisiana. It was like rice with a red sauce with cut up sausage.

That's the worst. That's how they make it in Shreveport.
