Brandon Jacobs only stayed at Auburn for one year. Brandon Jacobs was stuck behind Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown on Auburn's depth chart at running back, so he decided to transfer to Southern Illinois in order to get more playing time after his first year at Auburn

This line of thinking is hilarious. You guys are acting like LSU was doing Benton some big favor by holding a scholarship for him. This guy was one of the top 2-3 WR in the nation! I could see if he was some guy they were taking a chance on in-state, but not this guy.

Specs, this was the same thing that was said about Brandon Jacobs and he stayed qualified the whole time he attended Auburn.

Its not just holding a schollie for him. LSU is doing everything they can to get him qualified. Its not just about football but getting him into a classroom, which he would have no shot at without LSU

Blocking really isn't stressed in high school WR's as it is in college. They will need to be coached

Benton will lay the wood. Very good blocker. When we played Edmund sante fe out of Ok, Benton killed the LB's on crackback blocks. When the 3rd quarter started th LB's would not be looking at the runner running around the end but trying to find Benton instead. He was headhunting.

I understand all of that, AU had the same thing happen to them with Jermaine Johnson this year with Miami, but I stand by my statement. LSU is trying to get something in the deal...they are not altruistic here.

I just can't understand w/ all the help he has had, Hargrave, Tutors, etc. that he can't get in LSU. It's not as if athletes have to meet the same standards as regular students.

What's the deal?

Which non-athletes have we been working with for the last 2 years to be elligible to enroll?

Great to hear. Its nice to have a beast at receiver holding blocks for our running backs on the edge. Obviously great for the screens too and will open the playbook to allow for every receiver to be a target knowing there will be a wall in front of them.

Man it's a good thing he can catch and run fast, otherwise nobody would be fighting to GIVE him a free college education.

If after two years he can't get in academically, this is a waste of time.

That said, I can't wait to see him, Tolliver, Lafell, and Randle in the 4-wide.

If the O-line can give our QB's time to throw someone will be open. Those four will be sick.

Well of course LSU is getting something out of the deal. His football skills got him D1 scholarships from all over the nation. But because of his original commitment to LSU and LSU's commitment to him, he has a chance to qualify.

You can't blame that people who have stuck by him through all this for getting upset if he takes that for granted.

I have know ill will towards the guy if he goes somewhere else, but its not like this argument is ludicrous.

If I wasn't worried about this kid's mind before, I am now. Nevermind the issue of taking visits to other schools, but AUBURN?! CHIZIK?!

Was it BS when LSU was going after Brandon Jacobs years ago? His Juco coach pretty much did the exact same thing.
