LSU was all over the place this weekend, hitting multiple cities in the same weekend.

It is quite nice to see tweets mentioning seeing LSU coaches and us being after players. Also helps that Coach Forrest tweets a little.

Big change. I like it. Will be interesting to see if Johnny is able to get Randle interested in LSU.

Take a look at the schools interested in Julius Randle, and the list is an impressive collection of programs ranging from the Big 12 to the ACC to the SEC. However, one school absent is LSU; though Randle is from Dallas, one would assume the Tigers would make a push for the 6-foot-9 2013 forward.

Under new coach Johnny Jones, the Tigers are attempting to make a late push for Randle. While coach at North Texas, there was little chance for Jones and his staff to land Randle, so they focused their recruiting energies on recruits who would seriously consider the Mean Green. However, now in the SEC -- and with roughly the same staff -- the staff are using their Texas connections to try to bring Randle to Baton Rouge.

Alex Kline of the Recruit Scoop notes the entire LSU staff, including Jones, recently watched Randle's AAU team compete and were focused on the forward. It will be interesting if LSU can make up some ground with Randle; it is not known when Randle will make his college decision, but if Jones and his staff are targeting Randle, it must mean there is a good chance LSU could gain a commitment.

On Randle, the word out of Dallas is his Mom is really pushing him to go to Baylor. When Kenny Trout moved a handful of his Texas Titans AAU team to Prestonwood Christian, she fell in love with the small Christian environment of that school and the school administration has embraced her. Now the school is going to be ranked in top 10 nationwide in basketball next season. Half the kids in that school seem to end up in Baylor as it is just a larger version of Prestonwood and school officials love their Baylor pipeline. It's close to Dallas so she can see him play and has the environment she likes. While anyone would love to have the kid, I think  realistically Johnny is concentrating on other talent in DFW.

Who knows whether LSU has a real shot at Randle. However, recruiting him is not a big gamble or waste of resources, since his AAU and high school team is loaded with other prospects.

We may not get Randle, but will likely get a major prospect or two from DFW and solidify a recruiting pipeline for the future.

You always hear this stuff in recruiting. Gotta take it with a grain of salt. It's almost always exaggerated or sometimes completely untrue.

With The Scotlandville kids blowing up at the camps, plus Marttin, plus Bridewater, as well as the wings that have been offered, are the hamminck twins still takes next year? Do we have any insight yet on order of magnitude on what order of significance Johnny has on the 2013 class?

Watched him play this weekend. Up 30 plus with a few minutes left and he is in to basically show case some dunks. Teammate turns it over and people are watching it roll out of bounds. Martin rushes across the court saves it as he falls out of bounds. I am talkin full sprint 30-40 feet across the court past everyone watching and lay out to save it. Does so successfully and I look over at the coaches scouting (Smart, Pastner, Kennedy (Miss and A&M) and others) and they all are smiling ear to ear. The kid loves the game. If LSU misses out, I will be very sad.

However, talking to a few people around the gyms (some coaches, some recruiting service people, some sponsor people). The consensus is he is headed to Louisville. Loves Pitino, the style, and what his people (coach, family, himself) are getting from them.

Edit: LSU wasn't there at that game and it was the only time I could watch them. Did see Johnny Jones and Kirby rockin the LSU gear scouting the Urban-DFW team among others.

Yeah, they checked out New Orleans Elite earlier, and then split up and jetted off to other tournaments.

2-2. Lost by 1 and 4. SMH. Hurts playing without your PG.

Am I misreading this sentence or is bball recruiting so dirty that this is just the norm?

Let's just say the team he plays for sends kids to schools. Not the kids on the team choose there schools. That team is getting there kickbacks for sure.

"Spoke with Baton Rouge (La.) Scotlandville 2013 big man Damian Jones (6-9, 220) in Hampton over the weekend and he said Alabama and Oklahoma State are coming on strong.

Jones is a kid that really helped himself over the weekend. Playing alongside Julius Randle, he had a lot of eyes on him and really played well. Spotted Anthony Grant taking a look at him on Sunday.

He's very long, very active and a pretty advanced skill set for his size on the offensive end. Worked the pick and roll really well from what I saw and knocked down his FTs when he got fouled.

Went for 20 points (8 of 10), 8 rebounds and 6 blocks in a win Saturday. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Bama ramp up its interest and extend an offer soon."

Posted by some guy on the SEC recruiting board from the BOL so take with a grain of salt.

Still think he's ours when it's all said and done and we still want him.

They must have missed his 4 min, 4 foul game.

Kid has the tools to be a really good player but lacks consistency. That 20-8-6 game came against the one of the worst EYBL teams (40 point blow-out).
