Who on here thinks Aranda is really LSU's head coach in waiting. Makes sense to me. Young up-and-coming guy like that would probably want some level of commitment from LSU. Personally I'd be fine with him as HC when Miles retires. I think it would help recruiting if it were publicly announced because it would give us more stability.

Can we watch his defense play a game first before crowning him as the next head coach at LSU?

I want Frank to get his beak wet at UTSA and come home with Arana by his side.

I highly doubt it. He's never ran a program before, let alone a program the size of LSU's. There's more than just coaching to Miles' job. It's a CEO type position that requires training.

What the hell does head coach in waiting even mean?

Do you really want LSU not to even have a HC search when Miles retires/fired? "Uh guys I know this Nick Saban guy wants the job but Dave Aranda is head coach in waiting."

Come On.

This is like the threads making players AA or Heisman winners before they ever dress out.
This Board is unbelievable.

No one with half a brain.

Aranda is not the coach in waiting, period. Why would LSU want a coordinator with no head coaching experience when we could go out and get a quality coach from a major conference that has had success? That formula has resulted in the best two coaching hires in the history of LSU football. Did the last coordinator promoted to LSU head coach work out well for you?

As good as a coach as he is he biggest task so far was the dc at mid teir big 10 school. Now I think his future is extremely bright and he is going to succeed wherever he goes but pump the brakes a bit. There is a lot more to being a head coach than being able to coach defense.

Can you people please live in the present and not years down the road?

Also, the coach in waiting theory is just stupid fictional stuff fans come up with.

I would love too see Frank come back too. With good coordinators he could make LSU into the dynasty it was supposed to be

To add to that list is the thread about Cecil Collins being the best all time running back in LSU history playing a handful of games.

not all coaches are cut out to be head coaches, esp.at d1 level.take chavis for example. He has to be a leader, motivator, couselor, have good experience at all aspects of the game.also has to put up with the media,do weekly shows. Some guys are just happy where they are behind the scenes.jus my take.

He probably was just happy with 3x the money and a plethora of NFL talent.
