He was previously committed to the Tigers for nearly a year and switched to Baylor early summer of 2020.

I hope so, he should be one of the top corners in the portal, had a really good season

75.0 overall PFF grade
11 catches in 29 targets on 359 coverage snaps (very low targets on that amount of coverage snaps)
119 yards 2 TD with 6 PBU
Only 2 penalties all season

Man, he was committed to us for a while. I can't remember if he was a grade concern or if he was a victim of class mismanagement by the previous staff.

I remember being happy for him that he found a good landing spot with Aranda.

ETA: Looking at his recruiting page, the timing of his decommitment looks like he was a grade concern. He was committed to us all through the spring and then decommitted in the summer. We still had one spot available, but we might have been trying to fill it with a DB transfer and not a true freshman. We ended up taking Darren Evans.

We were recruiting Cypress at corner still so we're definitely not done there

Just curious how he was a grade concern yet was able to get into Baylor. If Baylor could work it out then LSU should have been able to as well. Serious question not being rude.

Lorando can play. It was stupid to let him get away two years ago.

If we took him and Lucas I'd say all that's left is a free safety from the portal, and we'll be all set on defense.

B12 has lower standards than SEC. I remember us losing a player to one of their school a while back due to a weird credits situation where they required 1 less type of credit (Math, science, forgot what it was) than the SEC did and the player went to a B12 school instead of ours to qualify.

That's specific to JUCO transfers. Has nothing to do with HS guys.

While Academic rankings can be the subject of scrutiny, Baylor is ranked 77th against LSU at 176th.

One would expect the grade requirements to be more stringent at Baylor.

He gave up 2 catches in all of big 12 play and was one of the best CBs in the big 12 all season. Former LSU commit. Kind of a no brainer to pursue him and bring him in. Syracuse All Conference Corner Duce Chestnut is a guy we should be after too.

Yeah I think he was thinking of Phil Loadholt who was a Juco OL

My guess is he didn't get qualified until late spring/early summer and by that time either LSU or Johnson (or both) had moved on.

We were pretty thin at DB going into 2020, so it's possible we decided to try to get an experienced guy who could contribute immediately over a high school guy.

Either the info will trickle down to tigerdroppings when we do reach out or they'll pop up and commit out left field.

Not until they find an ILB unless they plan to move Perkins there and he learns all the nuances to the position.

So far it looks like we're more interested in JK Johnson out of Ohio State, who was higher rated out of HS and played for Steeples at DeSmet.

But if that doesn't happen, it seems like this could.
