Since I know that you guys like to hang out here and throw a jab in here and there, I figured I could get an answer for my question. Let's talk about you guys for a minute. Give you a little bit of spotlight.

You guys stand at 21 commits as of last night. For those who don't know, Petey Smith, a 3* LB committed to Alabama. You guys signed 32 last year. With your 21 commits already, you guys claim to be in the running and/or lead for the following:

Rueben Randle
Eddie Lacy*
Dre Kirkpatrick
Darren Myles
Kendall Kelly
Ed Stinson
Greg Reid
Patrick Patterson
Brandon Moore
Tana Patrick
Bobbie Massie

I could even be missing someone because I read somewhere that you guys were even talking about Philip Lutzenkirchen. (TE commit to Auburn) Even leaving the TE out, that makes 12 more kids that Alabama is wanting to sign. That 32 signees in '09. How the hell are those numbers going to even work? You take out Randle and Lacy (JUCO) and it's still 31. That's 63 recruits Alabama has signed in 2 years.

How's that working out? Are they really expecting that much attrition or do you guys know that you're recruiting kids that just will never make it. Maybe, to give your fanbase something to talk about with the excitement of a top recruiting class......

it all works out, when half the class is zapped by the Clearinghouse, and the rest are running from the Cops.

it's working out due to sign and place combined with early defections from the program (i.e. Fanuzzi, Smith, Coffee, etc.)

I'm not sure how true it is, but on another board I read that after the last 2 classes, Bama will have to cut the scholarships of up to 15 current players.

I saw on one of their boards where a poster broke down, by class, the numbers. He factored in JR's declaring, transfers, Bryant Scholarships, and also the grey shirts from last year. From what I remember, they were having real problems even getting the 25 to fit.

But none of them were worried, "Because Coach Saban will make the numbers work."

some are even bragging about it on BOL, about kicking off kids who are juniors or seniors to make room for recruits. "cream rising to the top" they call it. in other words, "i know we gave you a scholarship but we changed our mind for someone new and so go frick yourself."

This will be hailed as part of the process...

$aban will be a hero for cutting them.

Once one of the gumps shows up, they oughta be able to do an easy search on a premium site like the one available on TSD (it breaks down expected attrition by classes).

some direct quotes from BOL about kicking off seniors for recruits. these are the same fans who constantly blow themselves about their loyalty and "doing things the right way":

The kind of competition we are about to experience @ Bama will truly seperate the men from the boys! The cream will rise to the top and the 'contenders' will transfer or keep competing for playing time. That is how it's supposed to work @ Bama...

This is gonna be a huge class, it appears. Some current players better start exploring their options.

It's going to be a large class, and we only have about 12 open spots... that leaves anywhere from 13-18 spots that aren't open at this point... something's gotta give

we're going to have at least 12-14 returning players either voluntarily give up football, be put on medical scholarship, or get the boot. That is a fact.

Yeah, because those are "Shula's Players" and they are just trash that needs to be removed so all-holy Nick can fill the roster with his superhuman android players.
