He'll be a jack LB... But he does live with his mom... Not to mention Frank has more pull.

I think even Jordan Jefferson could throw a TD against 11 Jack linebackers

He'll prolly end up at Bama. It actually wouldn't surprise me in the least. Are there any other in state DT's?

I guess Bama has firmly established themselves at the #1 program and Nick has his claws all over Louisiana..

Sad

I, for one, am really happy that we will never know.

People have to let the Jack LB thing go. It's meaningless. It's just a selling point and it works. If we had a spot like that to sell we'd sell it too. Ask Russell Shepard how that QB pitch worked out. Same thing.

The FL kid if it's Walker isn't going to be a Jack. He's a DE no matter the pitch. He'd be a Lavar Edwards type DE for us down the line. DE/DT tweener.

It shouldn't surprise you, LSU has no shot with top La prospects that Saban wants anymore

Agree. That line of thinking shows the insecurities of a portion of our fanbase. Let it go. Is it the same when our staff steals a kid from another state? Missing on Patrick Peterson really stunted UF during their championship run. Stealing Russell Shepard really hurt Texas(it probably is hurting us more than them). When a program is as established and powerful as LSU is, one,two or three kids aren't going to make or break the program. Only a QB is even possible as a thought. Not a single guy we've missed on to Bama,Auburn,Texas etc hasn't been replaced by someone better or comparable. We're not hurting for talent at any position that we've lost a kid at. Also we win 90% of the battles we have for instate kids. No one wins them all. No one. Texas is the closest thing and even they miss on a couple of kids a year.

That's real nice and all, but when a big time kid from LA at a position of major need this year and next decides to go to one of our biggest rivals, yeah that is a very big deal and a very big problem. Don't act like it isn't. It's not easy to just pull a top 5 DT from out of state. You're right, it won't make or break our program, but it sure as hell can make a big difference if it keeps happening

I actually think Demarcus Walker, the Florida kid y'all are mentioning, would make a tremendous MIKE LB. He was able to talk to Dont'a Hightower a good bit during his visit and I think loved the role he played for Alabama.

Nope. The only commitments we got were from Deon Johnson and Anthony Averett.

Maybe at Bama. He wouldn't play Mike at LSU. He'd be a strongside DE and potentially a DT. I think he'll end up at DE at Bama as well. Saban and co are just trying to find selling points to all those kids with like bodies and skillsets. Smart

We lost Trovon Reed and yet we have a better version of him in Beckham. No big loss. He can't stay heathy

We lost Greg Robinson but yet have plenty of talented, young depth on the OL. No loss.

Bradley Sylvex where would he be contributing? Wr? CB? Not a loss

Devall-wanted to play LB so that's where we have to figure the loss is. Sorry but the kids we landed are better LBs in our system. No loss

Davis-was a loss and the biggest of the 3 last year but even still it's not devastating. We still got Danielle Hunter who is a better pure talent. We also will have a loaded group this year. While it hurt short term in 3 years we'll never know we lost him

Collins- biggest loss perception wise and he's a great talent no doubt but Corey Thompson was a good replacement. How much difference can Collins really make? He could be an all american and we'd still be fine at S and plenty good enough there to be a tema capabl of beating Bama head to head.

When are these losses going to start effecting LSU? That's 3 years worth of kids lost and yet still no effect. It only hurts the feelings of LSU fans who are obsessed with the negative and never give credit to the positives. I'm sure everyone hurt the staff to a point but I bet they didn't dwell on the losses and let it get in their heads. They just moved on the next kid. Recruiting is not about who you lose. It's about who you get. The talent difference between the players we lost and the players we got is not big enough to have a huge effect. That's the beauty of being a powerhouse program. There's always another option to take their place.

Think about 2 OOS kids we lost and the effect their loss has had. Mike Davis and Justin Hunter. Are they great talents and could they have been used? Of course but what has our record the last 2 years been compared to Texas and Tennessee? Huge difference. With the poor QB play we had the last 2 years, their impact would have been minimal. Could they be used this coming season? Sure but Beckham and Landry will be fine along with the rest of the group. With the way Davis tanked last year and the fact Hunter was hurt it's possible they wouldn't even be major factors at LSU. Having JJ and JL at QB certainly wouldn't have helped them. They also would've stunted the progression of Randle. Again how big a loss were they?
