Agree. Our defense was better with Minter on the field. I was very impressed with him this year. He's got 2 more years as the starting MLB and will play well. Also liked how Tahj Jones played. Just need to get good play at Baker's spot.
Agree about Jones and DE. He's already as big or bigger than Monty and Mingo though not as athletic. I feel he can play LB but his athletic ability and speed are more rare at DE.

6' 3" 245 lets hope for the next Kelvin rather than Minter. Or lets hope Minter becomes the next Kelvin this year, then lets hope fot the next Minter.

Not concerned about TCU if we offer. Not the slightest bit threatened by them. They'll be a mid level Big12 school for the next 5-7 years. Not ready for that grind just yet but I do hope they can be successful there. I like Patterson a lot.

I heard that a few spots may have opened up recently.

I think he still needs to qualify, but I do think he's LSU/SEC material. Not worried about TCU. Only reason he goes there is if LSU and other big boys don't offer.

I was joking when I said that but you are kidding yourself if you still don't think TCU is one of the big boys. There is actually another player from Louisiana that LSU may offer late but will likely turn LSU down for TCU.

TCU has already beaten a number of Big12 teams. But don't worry, LSU is coming up on the schedule too.

Getting a little too big for his britches I see. LSU is a far cry from SMU. Worry about beating them before jumping in the big dog's pen. I like TCU and really like Patterson but c'mon. We're in a whole different class than TCU.

I remember when OU fans were talking like that before TCU played them in 2005 too. So were Wisconsin fans in 2010 and Boise fans last year as well. If you want to keep taking TCU lightly, that is fine by me. I just don't want to hear any excuses later.

The big boys don't lose to SMU.

You don't care to share what recruit you're talking about? I know a ton about every kid from LA that LSU could possibly offer and no one on the list would pick TCU over LSU. That's not a knock on TCU at all it's just the way it is with the kids in the state this year. Even the 3 you guys got from West Monroe the last 2 years were LSU if we offered. McFarland did everything he could to get an offer from LSU. Just curious to who the kid you're talking about is. Only guys I know that have TCU offers are Jones and Duke Riley. Neither of those 2 would spurn LSU for TCU or anyone most likely. I'm personally all for kids that don't get LSU offers going to TCU. They'll be coached well there and have the opportunity to reach their potential. If Patterson can reach Terrell Lathan, you guys could have another All American DE.

Do the big boys struggle to beat Troy at home and lose to Kentucky?

You are not a bad guy so I will go easy on you here. I will just say that you know who this player is and he has already been discussed on this message board in the last couple of months. State pride is big for many recruits but it is not always the biggest factor to them.

The only thing TCU has going for them is if a recruit wants to live in Dallas and early playing time. I can't think of anything else.

Let me give you a few more:

1. A winning program (2 recent BCS game appearances and one of the winningest programs in the last decade)
2. A good coach and a coaching staff that has remained largely intact for the last 10 years.
3. A program that has drafted or signed as free agents more players than Texas in the last 3 years.
4. A new stadium, workout facilities, etc.
5. Small school allows for smaller classes and classes within walking distance.
6. New AQ status and many games in the area (step up from its MWC and Conference USA past).
7. TCU football graduates its players at 71%. This is more than LSU and would be tied for first in the Big12 with Mizz last year.
8. Unlike a number of big name programs like UT and OU, TCU does not churn and burn. Recruits are given a 2nd and 3rd chance to figure it out.
9. New tv contract (now on easier to find cable channels and greater chance of getting occasional network coverage on ABC).
10. Better opportunity to play for a national title if run the table.

Also, TCU is in Fort Worth not Dallas. If you don't know the difference, you don't know anything about TCU. With that said, location can't hurt with Metroplex recruits and it is also true the Metroplex has not had a top team or at least a good one since the mid-80s.
